Miss Amy Noll,
Des Moines, Iowa.
Dear Madam:
I note by the paper that you are trying to get the names of Civil War veterans from the souther part of Iowa. My grandfather enlisted from Lucas County in 1862. He was Thomas L. Strong and in the 34th Iowa Infanry, I think that he was in Company L, not sure. He is buried at Russell, Iowa. He was born in Jefferson County Ohio in 1818. He died at Winerset Iowa in October 1890. He was in the Siege of Vicksburg and after that he was in Texas on the Red River Espedition and was discarged in 1865 after the war was over.
I do not know whwere the above will help you in your work or not but if you need any more informat and I have it I will be glad to give it.
Respectfully,
(signed) Roy C Strong |
