Schools of Louisa County combined in presenting one of the most outstanding programs in years at the Wapello high school auditorium Thursday night when the annual music festival was conducted. Approximately 1,000 jammed the school auditorium to hear the program.

Selections by a chorus made up of rural school pupils of the county, with more than 250 taking part, and selections by a combined orchestra of several hundred were high points of interest on the program.

The school auditorium presented a colorful setting for the presentation with the stage trimmed with flowers and the class colors of the various competing school prominently displayed.

All of the 38 rural schools of the county in addition to the town schools had a part in the big program.

Combined boys and girls glee clubs, varied instrumental combination groups and smaller vocal groups presented special numbers which were heartily applauded.

Dramatization of nursey poems, while the glee club sang, was a special offering of the Oakville schools. As another specialty Wapello students sang songs from the operetta which they recently enacted.

Teachers and officials of all schools in the county assisted in the presentation.

The groups met at the school during the afternoon for rehearsal. A picnic dinner was served.

More than sixty from Columbus high under the direction of Mrs. Feddersen and Mr. Ayers participated in the chorus, orchestra and band numbers.
