Cotter School Ready for Term
Clarence Laughridge, Formerly of Pomeroy to Head Staff for Year.

Columbus Junction – The Cotter consolidated school will open Monday, Sept. 3, with Clarence Laughridge who has been superintendent of the Pomeroy schools the last six years, as the new superintendent.

Mr. Laughridge was elected at a meeting of the board of education held last Saturday evening. H.E. Rogers, who was re-elected, resigned last week to accept the management of a store at Albert Lea, Minn.

The other teachers are Miss Irene Thomas, principal of the high school and instructor of English and Home Economics; H. H. Hollander, instructor of mathematics, manual training and history; Mrs. Lyle Duncan seventh and eighth grades; Miss Margaret Faris, fifth and sixth; Miss Frances Bonnichsen, third and fourth and Miss Mary Van Horn, first and second. There will be four teachers in the grades instead of three as in the past.

The bus drivers are Milford Bell, Glenn Edwards, Aura Morse, John Harold Davis, John Williams, Frank Seiler, Evan Arthur and Price Davis.

The board of education includes John Thomas, president; J.J. Jenkins, G.C. Duncan, John Arthur and Dewey Jones. Dean Jacobs, of Fredonia, will teach the upper grades of the Fredonia schools the coming yer and Miss Lola Lewis, of Columbus Junction, the lower grades.
