Registering to Start This Week
Good Enrollment in High School and Grades Anticipated

Columbus Junction – The Columbus Independent schools will open Monday, Sept. 3. Registration for pupils in high school will be held at the high school building Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24 and 25.

A good enrollment is anticipated in the high school and also in the grades and the outlook is for a successful year.

Change Text Book.

There will be a change in one grade text book. A commercial course will be offered and the regular home and manual training courses with the regular college preparatory course.

The buildings have all been gone over and the heating plants are in fine condition.

Miss Frances Alsip is the only new teacher and she will teach in the Columbus Junction grade schools. The teachers will be as follows:

H. E. Northey, superintendent; football and manual training; William Dunn, principal of the high school, mathematics and baseketball; Miss Marie Overholt, commercial department; Miss Helen Orr, history; Miss Kathryn King, English; Mrs. Helen Cecil, home economics; G. W. Ayers band; Mrs. Genevieve Feddersen, music.

Ralph Hibbs, principal of junior high school and instructor of eighth grade; Miss Martha Smylie seventh grade and Miss Irene Alsip, sixth grade.

Miss Helen Buchanan, principal Columbus City grade schools and instructor of the fourth and fifth grades; Miss Lucille Beik, second and third, and Miss Nellie Blanchard, first grade.

Miss Mary Moore, principal of the Columbus Junction grade schools. Misses Frances Alsip, Nellie Moore and Arian Lowe are the other instructors.

The second and third grades of the Columbus City schools, taught by Miss Lucile Beik, have moved upstairs on account of the crowed condition. The bus drivers are Emmer Enke, Boston route; Pete Hendrickson, Short Creek route; Mrs. Frank Moore,

north Tennessee route and Jack Peters, south Tennessee route.

Fay Greene is janitor for the high school building; J. H. Rodruck for the Columbus City grade school building and I. A. Endsley for the Columbus Junction grade school building.

The board of education of the Columbus Independent schools is R. S. Johnston, president; S. J. Lewis, B. H. Shearer, G.W. Weber and J. H. Rees.
