Capt. Roy Tandy Retired Feb. 1

Captain Roy W. Tandy Sr., USN Medical Corps 13th Naval District Medical Officer, retired from active duty Feb. 1. He has served more than 21 years on active duty and has been stationed in Seattle since June 1960. Capt. J. R. Bierly, USN, MC relieved Capt. Tandy, He reported to Seattle from the Office of the Base Medical Officer, Marine Base Medical Officer, Marine Base, Camp Pendelton, Calif. A veteran of World War II, Tandy participated in South Pacific engagements at Bougainville, Guam, Saipan, Leyte Gulf, and Pellilieu. For wartime service, he is entitled to wear the Navy Unit commendation Medal with five battle stars. Prior to entering the Navy in 1943, he was a Pvt. physician and surgeon for 12 years in Morning Sun. He was mayor for 10 years and also served terms as health officer. school director. county coroner, justice of the peace and President of the Count Medical Society in Louisa County. Tandy is married to the former Janet Law of St. Louis , Mo, and they have one son, Roy Tandy Jr.
