         FARMERS’ ALLIANCE. The County Farmers’ Alliance was organized at Wapello in 1886. The object of the Alliance is for mutual improvement and protection, and for the discussion of practical questions of interest to farmers, including tariff and transportation. Jonas Williams was the first county President, and was succeeded by F. A. Duncan. The incumbent is H. A. Johnston.
