ELIOT TOWNSHIP. This township is in the southeast corner of the county, and was one of the first settled in the county. It was organized in 1856, previous to which it was originally part of Florence, but was at times parts of Jefferson and Wapello. It has since its organization included parts of what are now Jefferson and Wapello. The township contains some fine farms, and some first-class farmers.
