Bill Greene of Columbus Junction was elected chairman of the Louisa County Soil Conservation District at their last regular meeting. Newly elected to the Board was Fay Crull of Letts, Virgil Corey of Morning Sun
and Leonard Chatfield of Columbus Junction. Olin Jennings is the other member of the five man board which coordinates the activities of other Federal, State and local agencies in helping to bring about the conservation, development and wise use of land, water and related resources.
The board recently purchased a film strip entitled “Consider The Soil First” which is available for use at public meetings. The film shows how costly misuse of land can be avoided through the use of soil survey when building a home, building roads or any other type of land use.
