    The Wapello Service Shop was opened on Sept. 22, 1952, with Harold and Bob Fletcher as operators. It is locate at the junction of highways 99 and 61 in Wapello.

    The building is owned by Bruce Hayes and was erected in about 1951.

    Harold gained experience with Pine motor Co. in Columbus Junctions for two years and the same company in Wapello for four years. Bob was with Pine Motor in Junction for six years.

    The shop provides wheel alignment with Bee-line equipment; complete paint and body repair; glass; muffler and tail pipe repair; brake repair; wheel balancing and truing with Hunter and Tire-Tru equipment, and it has 24 hour wrecker service. It carries special paint in stock, and any auto paint can be matched. They also grind valves, having a Sioux grinder, the most modern in the area, and stock Mohawk tires.

    Harold is a veteran with 3 ½ years in the air force. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fletcher have 3 children.

    Bob is an ex-prisoner of war, having 3 years’ service in the army. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fletcher have two children.
