KATHRYN’S SHOP 1ST IN READY-WEAR

    Kathryn’s Shop has the distinction of originating women ready-wear clothing in Wapello. The owner is Mrs. James J. Johann, who was the former Kathryn Lite of Ft. Madison, Ia. The business is located at 122 North second street. The building was first operated by Keller’s Drug.

    Her first store was located where the E. R. Winter insurance and real estate building is. Then she moved to where the post office is today, but as her business increased it was necessary to make another move and this time it was into the Johann building where she remained until purchasing her present building about 10 years ago.

    Assisting Mrs. Johann with the business is Frankie Downs who has been with her for the past 18 years.

    Kathryn’s Shop carries the leading brands of ready-to-wear for women and children. She also features the well-known Paddle and Saddle sportswear. The shoe department is quite complete, however, it is restricted to boys, girls and ladies.
