We try to reply to each
contributor promptly in order to verify information ... so if you haven't heard

1) Typists &
Transcribers. Can you type? Have internet access?
If so, help us be able to put more data online to help all
researchers. This is a great volunteer opportunity for
someone who is homebound or has difficulty getting around!
2) Photographers.
Spend time in the great outdoors taking pictures of area
gravestones and uploading them onto the Iowa Gravestone Photo
Project.
3) Lookup Volunteers.
Do you have access to Linn County histories, school yearbooks,
etc.? If you are willing to help researchers by looking up
information, let us know!
Contact the Linn County
Coordinator for more information!
Put the words "LINN
COUNTY LOOKUP" in the subject line of your E-mail.
List the name of the
reference source on the first line of your message.
Include as much specific
information as possible about what you are looking for.
Do not ask for
"everybody" with a specific surname, or for paper copies to be
mailed.
Limit your request to
one lookup and E-mail at a time.
Be patient and willing
to comply with any additional requests or restrictions listed by
the volunteer.
Remember to thank the
volunteer for their time and effort, even if it produced no
usable information for your research.

Let me know if you
have books or other reference sources and are willing to do look-ups:
Older cemeteries & gravestones
are disappearing every year! Whether destroyed by weather or
mischief, the stones are fading away and may not be available for
future generations to learn from. Help honor those who passed
before us by preserving the record of their presence before it gets to
this...
We are currently looking for volunteers who can
visit
and photograph or transcribe the cemeteries of Linn County specifically for this web
site. If you have transcriptions or can volunteer your time to help
with any
of the cemeteries listed here, please let me know.
