Searching for the descendats of Dr. Frank Blinn DORSEY, born abt 1862 in Fairmont, Marion Co, WV and died in Keokuk, Lee Co, IA. In 1929, living in Keokuk, IA. He graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Keokuk, IA and after practicing in MO returned to Keokuk, where he and his son, Dr. Frank Blinn Dorsey Jr, worked together.

Seeking information on Dave BLACKBURN. He was an ex-marshal of Donnellson, Ia. and was killed by Ed Reuther (the Marshal of Donnellson at that time). I have an old undated newspaper article about this incident. This article was found in the belongings of my Grandmother Blackburn.

TAYLOR, Otis; I am searching for information about the descendants of Otis Ora TAYLOR who lived in KEOKUK, Iowa. He was born on May 13, 1875 and died July 13, 1933. Otis is buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Otis was married first to my great-grandmother, Elizabeth SLATER. His obituary infers that he was also married to Myrtle DOGGS or DAGGS also. He is buried with an Eliza Taylor. His children are: Verlin and Pearl from his first marriage. Other "children" listed in his obituary are: Junior Vaughn, Otis Taylor, Jr. of California, Nova Taylor of Kansas City, Jesse Taylor of Woodward Iowa, Viola of Davenport, Rozetta of Davenport, and Mrs. Etta Belle MEYERS of Keokuk. I have information to share about Otis' parents and siblings, as well as information about Pearl's descendants.

Am looking for info on Dr. Aluscois W. SAILOR...may have been know as Dr. Webb SAILOR who lived in Montrose, Iowa. I have different spellings on the first name, may be Alexis, Alexas. I think this would be a man, but one source list as female. Dr. Sailor was born abt 1841 in MO, but died in Montrose several years prior to 1933, actual date unknown. He/She is the child of Jonathan and Lucinda Elliott Sailor. It is believed that he had at least one child: Alex. As always, I would gladly share my Sailor information.....thank you.

Cindy Haase Looking for info on the MILLARD family. My GG Grandmother was Harriet Amanda MILLARD b 1845 d 1888. She married Hugh MC INTYRE in Mt. Carroll, IL on April 26, 1862. Family info says she was a native of Lee Co., IA. Her siblings were Josephine M. HULBERT; Mary M. NIMS; Eliza M. DAVIS; and Tom MILLARD. She was buried in Atchison Co., MO. Looking for her parents, where they lived in Lee Co. and any historical info available.

Judy Lujan I am looking for any information regarding Luther CAMPBELL. What I have is that he was born at West Point, Lee County, IA in Oct 1842. He married and had three children: Rosalee; Wiley; and Harve. I do not know who his parents were or who he married. Scott Mace Zebulon ALPHIN, b.c. 1820 in Kentucky, married 3 Dec 1840 at Lee Co., IA, Zeriah CHILDERS, b.c. 1825 in Kentucky. They removed to Howard TWP, Wayne Co., IA before 1850. Luke Prior ALPHIN, Zebulon's father, was listed in the 1840 census of Lee Co. Looking for any and all info on these families, including: What became of Luke ALPHIN? Who were Zeriah CHILDERS' parents? Tim Reilly Looking for John A. ALTMAN, b. 3/18/1807 at Otterstadt, Germany, married A. Francis DOSER. She died 6/28/1872 and is buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cem., Solon, IA. He supposedly went to live with one of his daughters late in his life, in Keokuk and died there; do not know if that was Keokuk County or Keokuk Town. Their daughters: Sibila married Valentine KOOB; Anna married Adam REIF; Francis; Mary; and Catherene. Any help would be appreciated.

Dale Reilley Looking for the cemetery where my GGG Grandfather, Johan or John ALTMAN, might be buried. Family history mentioned fact that Johan went to live with one of his daughters (he had 8) who married and moved to Keokuk from Mt. Vernon area. He probably died about 1890 or so. He immigrated from Germany about 1854 with his entire family and extended family members, most of whom are buried in a small town just south of Mt. Vernon.

Heather Bell I am looking for information concerning John SULLIVAN and his wife Julia (born in Ireland), and their three daughters: Margaret; Catherine; and Johanna (born in Iowa, possibly in Keokuk). I have them listed in the 1860 census in Des Moines TWP, Lee County. In 1877/78 Keokuk City Directory, Julia is listed as a widow. I have some other limited info. Anne Chesney My grandfather George N. BRATON was born Mar 29, 1888, one of six kids to the union of William BRATON, born July 15, 1859, and Stella JOHNSON, born May 14, 1865. They were married Nov 24, 1885. William was adopted into the BRATON family, he was a JOHNSON, and it was said also part Indian. Stella JOHNSON was married three more times, 2nd husband was __ DAYTON, they had 2 kids, 3rd husband was __ WILSON, no children from this union, 4th husband was William BRATON again in 1920. This all took place in Montrose, IA, Lee County.

Martha Lutgen Looking for information regarding Albert F. HERTHEL, who I believe died in Ft. Madison in December of 1894. He was only 34 years old and I am trying to determine his cause of death, also looking for obit or any other info. I have a picture of a casket taken by a Ft. Madison Photographer. I believe it is of his funeral. If you have any info regarding this practice, I would also like that info.

Beverly Cowan I am seeking information on Samuel MC CLATCHEY who is listed in the Lee Co., Iowa, 1860 Federal Census. He is listed as a 69 year old grocery keeper who was born in Pennsylvania. I believe this is the same Samuel MC CLATCHEY who was listed in Mason Co., Kentucky for the 1820 and 1830 Census. Have not located him in the 1840 or 1850 census. He may have been a steamboat captain at one time.

Mary Brown Seeking information on Warren L. SMITH and Sarah Ellen SHAF(F)ER. They were married 25 Nov. 1885, in Keokuk. They had 1 son (that I know of), Jack Leslie SMITH, b. 18 Sept., 1888.

Jerry Wear I have a relative John WEAR who lived in Keokuk in mid 1800s. Looking for information on any individuals who carry the WEAR name in Lee County. I know a J. P. WEIR, had a large building there. I also have an Alex WARE/WEAR who lived in Muscatine Co. in 1860 and Louisa Co. in 1870. Have extensive family history to share and would love to have any information no matter how small. Thanks!

J. Suman Looking for info on Robert Brown COURTNEY born 17 Aug 1833, somewhere in Indiana. (One census said his parents born OH the other said Kentucky). He married Mary Susannah BALL on 2 September 1858 (where?). They lived in Indiana, Iowa, and Kansas. They were listed in the 1860 Lee Co., IA census. They had ten children: David Henry 1860; Samuel (my grandfather) born in Lee Co., IA 1861; Florence Estella 1863; Aaron 1866; Mary Inex 1868; Alva J. 1870; Nathan 1873; Daniel 1876; William 1879; Albert 1883. They were in McPherson Co, KS in 1880, Sedgwick Co. for 1900, 1910 & 1920. Both died within two months in 1926 in Wichita, KS. Any information will be appreciated.

Allen Gray Seeking information regarding Robert M. GRAY (1838-1920) who was working as a stagecoach driver at Keokuk, Lee Co., Iowa when Civil War began. He mustered in as a Private in Company C, 3rd Regiment, Iowa Infantry on May 20, 1861.

Married Lillis MC KEOWN (where and when unknown) b. 08/13/1801 in PA, d. 04/28/?? in Lee Co., IA. Son: William Gibson SAMPLE b. 02/10/1837 in OH, d. 10/18/1918 Smith Center, KS, buried Lee Co., IA. married Dianah HOBSON (there is confusion on the exact spelling of her name and date of death) b. 02/27/1839 in NC married 11/18/1863 d. 03/01/1899. Children of William and Dianah: George W.; John Grant; Charlie Gilbert; James Albert; Ida; Irvin; Milton; and Virgil Everett. Margaret Ann and G. W. Sample buried in Lee Co., Ia may also be children of James and Lillis. G. W. is listed as being a soldier and dying in 1865. On a general note, I am interested in knowing if there was a particular regiment that Lee Co. residents joined in the Civil War. I have been trying to combine my two hobbies, genealogy and the Civil War. I would love to know if G. W. was a 3rd great-

William D. Collins Would appreciate contact with anyone knowing ancestors and origins of H. Tapley KENT, who came to Lee County in the 1840's from Montgomery County, Ohio. His daughter, Phoebe E. married John C. COLLINS in 1858 at the farm of Calvin PRICE, possibly a family friend or son- in-law, in northern Lee County.

Carol McManus Looking for information on John OILER, wife Eliza, and children who were listed at Jackson TWP in the 1860 Census. They reportedly came from Scotland County, MO. I am looking for any known relatives of this family. The name could be spelled Oilar, Olyer, Oyller, Etc.

Mike Judd William PORE married Frances CHURCHILL 14 Oct 1857, Lee Co., IA, E. Cole JP performed the honors. Sarah Isabelle PORE was b. 8 Oct. 1858 in Keokuk. She is my ggrandmother and married Jacob F. RICHARDSON 28 Sep 1876 in St. Joseph, Buchanon, MO. They went on to fame though not fortune out west. Seeking info on any PORE relations in Lee Co. or environs--believe William is from PA. Seeking info on the CHURCHILL's--John b. IRE abt 1822, Maria b. IRE abt 1825, Frances b. 1844 CAN, Mary b 1845 CAN, Joseph b 1847 NY, John C. b 1843 OH. The family had been in IA less than a year when found in the 1856 state census in Jackson TWP, #1033. Gary Poole I'm looking for information on Samuel HOWARD b. 1793 in VA. Son William Henry HOWARD b 3 Sep 1812 OH, d 4 Jan 1888, Monroe Benton Co. OR. Married Jane OSBORN b 17 Mar 1851 Stockport Van Buren Co. IA. Marriage was in Vermillion Co., Ill., 12 Dec 1833. I have information to share on the descendants of Jane and William but nothing on William's parents. The June 1977 issue of THE OREGON QUARTERLY says "Samuel came west in 1853, a widower with a number of children, some who were already in Oregon. He led another Iowa group". There was an Amos HOWARD who married Mary Osborne 25 June 1838, in Vermilion Co. I do not have it confirmed but am pretty sure Amos was a brother to William as William named one of his children (my Great Grandfather) Amos. Thank you for any help!

Bill Utter Looking for information on Serepha Anne MC GURIE who married Charles M. BRYAN on 11 Nov 1856, in Keokuk by a Rev. Haines. Serephia was born in Montrose on 13 Sep 1840. They had ? children. One child married a William ARMSTRONG. They had a son named Robert and later another son named Hugh Roy ARMSTRONG. Any information will help me fill in the spaces. Thank you!

Michael S. Caldwell Seeking information, descendants, burial place for any members of the John & Margaret CALDWELL family, who lived in Pilot Grove, Marion TWP., Lee County, Iowa. They appear in both the 1860 and 1870 Iowa Census. I would enjoy hearing from descendants of this family, as I have much to share on the early history of the Caldwell family in Pennsylvania.

John P. MacKenzie Looking for any information on the following members of the GAISSER family who lived in Keokuk, Iowa. The family moved from Keokuk to Louisville, Kentucky around 1865. They lived in Keokuk during the 1850's and possibly earlier. Joseph Englebert GAISSER (b 10/28/1830 in Baden-Baden Germany, d 1/15/1887 in Clarksville, TN) married to Margaret Simon. Children as follows: William F. (b 10/13/1854, Keokuk, IA, d 7/9/1879 in Tennessee); Joe (b 1855, Keokuk, IA, d unk. in KY); Louis Englebert (b 1856, Keokuk, IA d 11/28/1944 in KY); Caroline (b 10/29/1859, Keokuk, IA d 7/17/1953 in TN). Their children were: Malinda, married James Quincy Mc Vey, 2 Jan 1840; William, married Isabell Jane Davis, 20 Mar 1850; Mary, married Daniel P. Toof, 29 Oct 1844; Harriett, married Robert Davis, 19 Nov 1847; Jane, b 14 Mar 1828; James, married Mary Jane Pollock, 25 Mar 1851: Eveline, married James J. Box, 7 Dec 1851; Ann, b 9 Sep 1834; Amanda, b 9 May 1840; Elizabeth, b 11 Mar 1837; Detiloh, b 27 Jan 1844; Clinda, b 11 Nov 1846. All marriages of the BRYSON children thus far were in Lee County, Iowa. The town unknown. Would appreciate any information on any of the children or entire family and will share what information I have.

Al Dickgieser Looking for information on Thomas Jefferson OSBORN. All the information I have is from a July 1860 Census of Pleasant Ridge Township showing that my G Grandfather was 25 and born in Ohio. He married a Rachel Ann BOND, daughter of Nathan Hunt and Abigail (BEARD) BOND. My Grandfather, Sylvester Eugene OSBORN was born 3 miles North of West Point. Data from the Directory of Lee County shows the following information: OSBURN, Thomas J. far.,s. 17 P.O. West Point. The marriage records I have seen just listed the males name in one part, with the spouse, then the females name with the spouse in another section. Maybe in Keokuk City in the 1880 census. He was born in Allegheny County, PA, abt. 1836-1838. Any and all help would be appreciated.
