Miss Hazel M. WHARTON and Mr. Kenneth HARMON were married at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. WHARTON of West Keokuk, 25 December 1923.

Luke ESHOM of Hamilton, was killed in the Pekin Dry Starch explosion. Leaves father, three brothers and four sisters.
? REEVES, was born in Oh. 7 April 1846. He died 19 December 1923 and was the last of his fathers family. He married ? EVERETT in September in Keokuk. I could not make out any more.
Mrs. Wm. SPAIN, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tim KENNEDY on Bluff Park, Montrose, Iowa, 2 January 1924. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. George SMOUT, were natives of England. Early in their married live, they came to America from Birmingham. On the voyage their only child died and was buried at sea. They settled in St.Francisville, Missouri, where a family of five children were born to them, Mrs. Mary VANVLEET who resides in Ca. is the only surviving member. Emma SMOUT was born, 28 June 1844. On 23 June 1866, she married Wm. SPAIN at Montrose, a veteran of the Civil War. He died 14 October 1917. They had four children, Mrs. Neil KENNEDY of Montrose, Clarence, of Keokuk, Rola of Ohio, and Freddie who died in childhood. Buried Montrose Cemetery.
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester FARRELL was christened, Herman John at St. Joseph’s Cath. Church.
Ernest LeRoy VANAUSDALL, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren VANAUSDALL, died at Ft.Madison 3 Jan 1924. Buried Montrose cemetery. Leaves parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Beatrice VANAUSDALL of this city was called, she is an aunt.
Leonard SEIFERHELD, born in Athens, Missouri, 15 May 1888 and died 3 January 1924. Survived by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis SEIFERHELD, one brother, Andrew of Mooar, and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha STORMS of Argyle, Mrs. Rose Ella FRASIE of Donnellson and Mrs. Emma COOK who is at home with her aged parents. Buried Meek Cemetery.

Father A. J. ZAISER, well known priest from Ft. Madison, died quite suddenly, 8 January 1924. He was a resident of Nauvoo in his childhood. His father was a German Methodist minister, Rev. Arthur ZAISER for over 35 years, a priest of St. Joseph’s church and the S.E. part of the state. He was born at Quincy, Illinois, son of Hon. John and Margaret (FUNK) ZAISER. His father was born Wurtemborg, Germany 16 December 1835 and was the youngest of a family of ten. He came to America at the age of 17, with his sister Henrietta and brother, Henry. His mother survives.
William E. HANSON, life long resident of Ft. Madison, died 7 January 1924. He was born 31 August 1865. Survived by wife, two sons, Walter L. and J. Harold, one daughter, Mrs. George B. GROSS of Wyaconda, Missouri, three sisters, Mrs. Augusta HELSING, Miss Fredericka HANSON, this city, Mrs. Charles MILLER, Argentine, Ks., one brother, Adolph HANSON of this city.
Word was received in Charleston, that Mr. A. J. WOLFENBARKER, formerly of there, had died in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mr. Kenneth MARMON and Miss Hazel WHARTON were married Christmas at the home of the bride’s parents.24 January 1924
William W. WILLIAMS, a former resident of LaHarpe, died in Peoria, over come with gas while inspecting a boiler. He was 43.

Hubert D. MCDOWELL died at his home on Bank Street. He was born in Cherry? They done some moving , but I can’t read it. He married, Miss Ida HALPIN in 1874, she preceded him. He again married in 1903 to Miss Lillian HAGGOTT. Surviving; wife, one son D.C. MCDOWELL of Kansas City, Missouri, one step son Will S. HAGGOTT. Buried Keokuk cemetery on Ashland Drive.

Marcul L. HELM, son of Meredith and Malinda HELM, was born 15 March 1835 in Crab Orchard, Ky. and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bernadette? Of West Point. On 27 October 1857, he married Nancy MOORE, who preceded him in Mar. 1911. Had nine, six have died. Survived by two sons besides the daughter, John of Tulsa, Ok. and William of Argyle. Buried Charleston cemetery.

Mr. Herman KLUG Sr., died at his home in Charleston. He was born in 1855 in Oh. He leaves to mourn, wife and five children living and two have died. Richard, Harmon and Fred KLUG, Mrs. Emma HOLMES, and Miss Anna KLUG. Buried Charleston cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester FARRELL upon waking up, Tues. found that their baby boy had passed away.

F. D. PATTAN of Montrose, an old navigator of the Mississippi River, and pilot on the Columbia river for years, died in a hospital in Boise, Id. Born 20 November 1850 in Montrose, Iowa. He leaves a wife, Emily WHITEFIELD PATTAN and five children, Mrs. Frank JOHNEESE, of BOISE, Mrs. L.K. LAFEVRE of Spokane,, Mrs. Oscar ANDERSON of ? Park, Ca., Josephine PATTON of San Francisco, Ca., Frank of Long Beach, Ca.
Mrs. Johanna DAVIS MOORE, died at the Graham hospital last Tuesday. She was born 2 January 1849 at Keosauqua, Iowa and came to Keokuk at age of four. Moved to Montrose where she married Elifa MOORE and had ? children, four of whom survive, James H. of Montrose, Mrs. Earl WEST of Wayland, Missouri, Phillip of St. Louis, Missouri, Silver MOORE, of Keokuk. Her husband died 28 years ago. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Mr. Floyd JEMISON and Miss Marie BOWAN were married in Keokuk, 10 March. They returned to Montrose, where the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. BOWAN, had a wedding supper, for them. Will spend the winter in Ca.
Jack BUDD of Chicago, married Miss Minnie REED and will live in Chicago.

David Wesley MCFADDEN died at his home in Bremerton, Wa. 2 Feb. 1924 and was buried beside his daughter, Miss Grace WILLIAMS. He was born in Fulton County, Ill. Came to Iowa when small. He married Lettie JOHNESSE of Montrose 26 November 1890 in the St.Barnabas Episcopal church. They had six children, Mrs. Rae SWINDENSKY, and Miss Carol MCFADDEN of Bremerton, Mrs. Ruth CLARK, SanFrancisco, Mrs. Bethel ? of Clear Lake, Wa., David MCFADDEN of Seattle.
Mrs. Peter DELL, wife of a former Warsaw man, was killed at Gregory, Missouri, when struck by a train.
Mrs. Mary SCOTT, of Aledo died there last week.

Captain John Godfrey WEBER, died while tarring nets with his son, Fred. He was born in Louisville, Ky. 17 March 1851, the son of John G. and Henrietta WEBER. Moved to Nauvoo.:. then as a man he went to Herman, Missouri and learned the art of brick laying. He is survived by wife and four children, Dr. George of Holgate, Oh. Frederick of this city, Mrs. John SCHMIDT of Nauvoo. Nadn Dr. William of Greely, Co. Interesting big article.

Mr. Arthur QUIESNER and Miss Ida Harnagie of near West Point, were married at the home of the bride’s parents, 6 May. They will make their home at the groom’s home south of Viele.
John FOWLER of Jefferson Twp., died at the University hospital 16 May. He was born 11 March 1900, near New Boston, son of Mr. and Mrs. John FOWLER. Surviving, his mother, two brother, Carl and Howard FOWLER and two sisters; Miss Elsie FOWLER, Mrs. Oscar REIN of Keokuk. Buried in Montrose cemetery.
Miss Nellie REUTHER of New Boston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John REUTHER and Mr. Aubrey MEADE of Montrose, were married in Ft. Madison 7 May.
Mr. and Mrs. John BOWEN are paretns of a son, George Herbert BOWEN.

James GIFFORD of Nauvoo, died 4 July. He was born in Luzerne county, Pa. 28 September 1823? Came to Nauvoo in 1847. Married Savilla DURFEE. He was the father of ten children, three daughters survive, Mrs. Lizzie SPRINGSTEEN, Mrs. Annie WILLIAMS of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Lucy CUERDON. Buried in the city cemetery, I assume Nauvoo, Illinois.
G.W. CHRISTENSEN of Chicago died 31 June. Leaves wife, former Rene WHITE, one daughter and one son.
Word has been received of the death of Mrs. F. M. STANCLIFF of National City, Ca., formerly of this place. Her husband survives her. She was Florence GLASSFORD.
Ada Marie NUTTING of Mason City, Iowa, married Herschal WAHRER in Mason City 8 July 1924.

Chris HAFFNER, son of John WALTER and Magdeline HAFFNER, born 10 February 1847, and died 30 July 1924 at Graham hospital. On 31 March 1894, he married Miss Mollie WAGNER of Donnellson, who preceded him in Aug. 1921. Two daughters survive, Leona and Alberta, also his mother, Mrs. John HAFFNER, two brothers, Henry and Walter of West Point, two sisters, Miss Lena SEYB of Donnellson, Mrs. Kate HERRON of Carthage, S.D. Buried Donnellson cemetery.

Mrs. Ellen SOLLARS, daughter of James and Jane WALKER, was born in Louisville, Ky. 30 November 1841 and died 3 Aug. 1924. She married William SOLLARS in Keokuk on 25 December 1873, he preceded her in 1904. Surviving are four daughters; Aditha ASHLOCK of Ft. Madison, Alice NELSON of Galesburg, Illinois, Milo SOLLARS of Shale City, Illinois and James of Chicago, also three stepsons; Sylvester of Donnellson, William of Carthage, Illinois nad Duter? Of Elvaston, Illinois.
Tuesday evening, Mr. W. J. WARDLOW of East St. Louis came to Montrose and went out to see his brother, J.R. WARDLOW, whom he had not seen for forty years. The last Mr. J.R. had heard of this brother was when he was in a hospital in E. St. Louis and the word he received was that he and his son were both in the hospital and not expected to live. Later inquiry failed to give any further information and so he thought his brother dead. But when he drove up Tuesday, Mr. J.R. WARDLOW went out with his lantern and recognized the brother whom he had thought dead.

Mrs. Augusta WAIDER, long time resident of Lee county, died Tuesday at her home in Montrose, She was born 12 September 1876 at Keokuk. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Stewart of Montrose, Ernest of Rock Island, Illinois, daughters; Mrs. C.C. CLEMENSON, and Mrs. Mart FILSON both of Montrose, four grandchildren, mother, Mrs. Lizzie THON of Keokuk, two sisters, Mrs. Helen HILTZ, and Mrs. A. MEANDER, both of Sandusky, five brothers: Wm. of Peoria, Fred of Montrose, Harry of Davenport, P.E. of Rock Island, and Silas of Bloomington. Buried Montrose.

Mr. and Mrs. Bryan HANCOCK had received the precious jewel of a daughter on July 22. There were three sons in the family and the parents were glad for the coming of the little baby girl, but the messenger, called her back. Buried Charleston cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Rose WORSTER, eldest daughter of Robert and Cornellus Curtis WORSTER, was born in Cumberland Marion county, Indiana, 8 June 1839. With her parents, she came to Keokuk at the age of 13. She later returned to Indiana and was educated at Greencastle. She married Theodore Hilton Myers, 24 January 1859 and had five children, one son, William Robert, died several years ago; Mrs. Mary Emma GORDON, Los Angeles, Ca., Harry Hilton, Little Rock, Ark., Frederick Joseph, St.Louis, Mrs. Lulu Cornella LAWS, Montrose, three brothers, H.J. and R.E. WORSTER, Montrose, William C., Keokuk, one sister, Mrs. C.W. LAHM, NY City. One granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth REIMBOLD, died 20 Feb. 1923. Mr. Myers died 8 Jan 1904. Buried Oakland cemetery.

She married John SCHOENE, and had two children; Mrs. L.B.ALLEN of South Bend, Indiana and Wm. of Donnellson. Her husband died 25 July 1872? In June 1878, she married Charles SCHWARSENGRUBER. of Charleston, they had eight children; Charles, of Charleston, Daniel of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. C.E. HERSCHLER of Curumonga, Ca. Joseph, who preceded his mother, Mrs. Charles MARKS of Keokuk, Mrs. Fred WOODSON of Plancentia, Ca. Mrs. Fred RIEPE of New London, Mr. Jacob SCHWARSENGRUBER died 1 Feb. 1916, Buried Charleston cemetery.

Dr. Samuel COLLINS was born in Keokuk, 23 October 1863 and died Friday. There are three children by a former marriage: Omer B. COLLINS of Bridgeton, N.J. Mrs. Anna HORSE and Mr. Clarence COLLINS of Fairfield, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Helen CARPENTER of St.Louis, Missouri. He married Miss Etta CRAWFORD 6 July 1904, who with three children, two brothers, and a sister survive. Buried Montrose.

Miss Amy GALVAND, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.G.GALVAND of Montrose, married Leonard BALL of Charleston.
James Grant COONEY was born in Franklin Twp, Lee county in 1869 and died 9 October 1924. Married Rosie L. REED, 22 January 1819( I know that can’t be right, but that is what it says) They had one son, John of E. St .Louis, Illinois, who with the wife, one brother, Henry, of Ft. Madison, one sister, Mrs. ? REED of Montrose, two half brother, Rev. Wm. of Kahoka, Missouri, and John of Tonapah, Nevada, survive. Buried Montrose cemetery.
Miss Anna SPENCER married ? CARSON, will live in Bellville, Illinois.
Mrs. Alfred LEMATTY has returned from the hospital and brought a little daughter, Vera May, with her.

Louis Frances COYNE, one yr old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank COYNE, of Montrose died at Graham Hospital this morning. The mother, daughter of Barney COOK of this city, was holding the infant in her arms when the car struck a bump, causing the mother to be bounced around and loose her hold on the infant. The infant fell out of the car.

Charles Frederick FRUEHLING was born near Warsaw, Illinois, 17 January 1872, and died 25 October 1924 in St.Joseph hospital. On 4 September 1895, he married Miss Lydia Katherine BRISTOW and in 1905, the family moved to a farm west of Mo ntrose. Surviving him are his wife and eight children; Esther E., and M. Hazel of Chicago, Eunice L., Ruth O., Harry C., Florence C., and Leslie H., all of Montrose, his father, Charles, two brother; John H. Montrose, and William H. Wessington Springs, S.D. one sister, Mrs. Mary SHEA, Montevests, Co. Buried in Montrose cemetery.

Miss Margaret A. BALLOU and Howard S. WRIGHT were married at the Presbyterian church at Montrose. Bride is daughter of Mrs. William MCCANN of Montrose. Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Smith WRIGHT of Montrose. Will live on farm near Montrose.

Mr. ?BASSETT died at the home of his daughter in Montrose. He was born 7 October 1845 in Van Buren county, Iowa. Was in the Civil War. On 3 July 1865, he married Elizabeth WILSEY at New Boston and had ten children; seven of whom survive; Mrs. BASSETT died about four yrs ago. Children surviving; Mrs. Scott HAMILTON of New Boston, Dr. W.T. BASSETT of Des Moines, New Mexico, J.L. of Utah, Mrs. J.E. DRESSER, and Mrs. John HESS of Montrose, Clarence of Oklahoma, Mrs. John HADLEY of Oh. Buried in the cemetery by the Ambury church S.W. of Donnellson. (name of that church could be wrong, I remember that church)

David N. BUTCHER of Keokuk, died at the hospital Friday. He was born near Paduca, Ky. on 7 July 1845. Came to Marion County, Iowa with his parents. At age 17, he enlisted in the civil war. He is survived by his second wife, formerly Mrs. Clara HARMON, whom he married three years ago. Buried National cemetery.

Mrs. Catherine WRIGHT, who was found unconscious on the floor of her home as told in Journal last week, and was taken to her daughters home in Keokuk, passed away the first of this week and was buried in Hickory Grove.
