Corintha Catherine BANKS was born in Hancock Co. Illinois 11 August 1847 and grew up there.

Married Joel AMES in Dallas City, Illinois 21 June 1866 and had eight children, three sons and two daughters preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Emma NEWBERRY of Argyle, Iowa and two sons Dr. H.B.AMES of Alva Ok., J. M. AMES of Roy, N. M. ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family came to Montrose, Iowa in 1907 where she made her home until her death 7 January 1921

20 January 1921

William FOWLER was born at Stokes, St. Millsburg, England 14 September 1820, the son of John R. and Harriet FOWLER. He had two brothers, two half brothers, and one half sister. He came to this country in 1852, coming to Keokuk in 1853. He married Malisea BAIN, at Galland in Jan 1860. They had 11 children, seven having died in infancy. He has spent most all his married life on a farm near Montrose. His wife and two grown sons preceded him in death. He died 16 January 1921. Leaves, Frank, Albert, and Arthur all of Montrose, and four daughters; Mrs. Slater, New Boston, Mrs. Lola SMITH, who lived on the home place, making a home for her father, Mrs. SCHEVERA of Keokuk, and Mrs. George MOORE of Ft. Madison. Add this all up makes 16 children.

Mrs. Cora WILSON, of Burlington, granddaughter of Mrs. CRAWFORD and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.D. WILSON, died last week and was brought here for internment.

27 January 1921

Mr. and Mrs. Everett BUNKER have a new son, born at the James MOORE home, the child had a short life as he died on Monday. He was brought to Montrose to the Sterling BUNKER home for services. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Adolphus JOHNSON was born in Wheeling, Va. 6 December 1835. Moved to Burlington with his parents about 3 years later. Shortly after, came to Montrose, where in 1856, he married Melissa MINNEAR of Montrose and where they lived about 36 years. Later moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. He came about three weeks ago to his son’s, G.L. JOHNSON. Moved to St .Joseph hospital, where he died 22 January. He was buried in Montrose cemetery beside his wife, who died about four months ago. Check her obit, maiden names not the same, nor does it mention a G.L. JOHNSON as one of her survivors. Marriage dates not the same either. His survivors say; Mrs. Stella DAYTON, Kansas City, Mo., and G.L. JOHNSON, Keokuk, Iowa, S.A. JOHNSON, Myrtle Point, Or.

17 February 1921

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. WAHRER of Peoria, Illinois, have a new son.

Albert Glen OSBORN of the 163rd Depot Brigade, died at Knoxville, Iowa and was buried in Keokuk last Thursday.

Between Ft.Madison and Montrose several miles below Devil Creek, are several gentle hillocks near the road. These hillocks mark all that is left of a tragedy of the early history of Lee county, that of the death of Kal-la-we, an Indian Maid the only child of the forest known to fall victim of tuberculosis in the county. Her death occurred in August 1837. She was buried by moonlight in a rude structure built on the top of one of the hillocks and was followed to her last resting place by her mother only.

A letter from Miss Bessie SLOANAKER brings this news of her devoted girl-hood friend, Alice BLISS who is now Mrs. Charles A. DUNN. She was married 15 November 1900 at her father’s; Rev. BLISS at McComb, Illinois, to Mr. Charles A. DUNN who was born at McComb and grew up there. They had been in business at Kansas City and Chicago. He was a graduate of the Illinois University. For some time they have lived on a farm at Muskegon, Mi. where Mr. DUNN died 4 December 1920. Mrs. DUNN will be remembered here, as her father was pastor of the Presbyterian Church here for several years.

Miss Hazel GATES of Chicago married Ray HAROLD in Chicago 21 February 1921. After they get back from Oklahoma, will be at home here.

Mr. and Mrs. Louie WESTERMEYER of Charleston, are parents of a new girl.

Mr. CLINGMAN received word of the death of his sister, Mrs. Alice COAD of Middletown.

Mr. Wm. SAWYER of Burden, Kansas, died last Saturday at his farm home. Buried in the home cemetery. He formerly lived here and was married to Miss Belle HORNE. Leaves wife, one son and two daughters, sisters, Mrs. Rufus YOUNKIN, Mrs. Ed CARTER. Mrs. Mary CARPENTER, Mrs. Priscilla BLOOD and Miss Mattie SAWYER, and brother Silas.

J.M. O’CONNER and wife, nee Mabel COYNE, of Chicago, were called upon to part with their youngest daughter, 2 ½ yr old Mildred died 1 March 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter SLATER have a new boy, 10 March. New Boston news.

Lydia Jane BOYD was born in Sardinia, Brown County, Oh., 6 March 1844 and died 25 March 1921. When 10, she came with her parents to Lee Co. and shortly after, moved into the house where she has spent the greater part of her life. On 31 July 1862, she married James G. HURLY and had eight children, three of whom died in childhood, her husband seven years ago. Leaves, William, Frank, Lulu and Nellie of Montrose, Ruth of St.Louis, Missouri. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley WARDLOW have a new son, born 23 March.

William Henry SINGER, son of Henry and Elizabeth SINGER was born in Montrose, 3 October 1851. He married Rebecca McINTOSH 20 December 1874. Had six children, Guy of Ft .Madson, Ernest of Montrose, Rev. Harold W. of Oxford, Iowa, Maude of Montrose, Mrs. F. O. NELSON of Newton, Iowa and Mrs. F. J. DUBALL of Milwaukee, Wi. His wife died 28 April 1918. Also five grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Virgil DERR and Miss Alice FRUEH were married in Ft .Madison, Wednesday.

William Andrew HILER was born 1 May 1858 at Charleston, Iowa, died 27 March 1921 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm, HOPP of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Married Fanny V. VERMILLION 15 October 1885. Leaves his wife, two daughters; Mrs. Fred PETTY, Montrose ,Mrs. J. W. HOPP, one sister Mrs. Elizabeth BOYDEN of Ca. and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church.

14 April 1921

William H. SNIDER died 5 April. He was born 26 April 1858 in Donnellson, Iowa. He married Mary B. ANDERSON 22 October 1884. Leaves wife, one brother, nieces and nephews. Buried Montrose cemetery.

21 April 1921

Word was received by relatives that Mrs. L. DEAN and Mrs. M. HOWARD, sisters of the late Wm. SPAIN, had died. Mrs. DEAN, died at her home in Detroit, Mi. in her 80th year, Mrs. HOWARD, living with her daughter in N.Y., died 15 April. Her remains were brought to Davenport.

28 April 1921

Addie Belle SCRANTON, daughter of Miram and Ladema (SPRAGUE) SCRANTON, was born in Montrose, 20 August 1862 and died 11 April 1921. Married Frank CARREL, went to Pittsfield for 13? years, having been located in their present home for 26 years. They had two children, one, a daughter, died in infancy, and a son Roy. Besides husband, son, she leaves five grandchildren and five brothers, and sisters; Lee SCRANTON, of Elko, Nev., H.M.SCRANTON, of St. David, Az. Edward of Coqville, Or., Mrs. Alez GARDNER of Elko, Nev., and Mrs. E.A. CLARY of Denver.

Miss Verna SPENCER married James HIGBEE of Wyoming, Illinois at the Elmer SPENCER home in Montrose, 4 May 1921. The bride has lived here all her life, but will now live in Wyoming, Illinois.

Mrs. Mabel REEVES is bidding goodbye to her Montrose friends before her wedding which is taking place in Keokuk today at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie JOHN’S. The groom, John DOUGHTY, formerly lived here.

Miss Sallie WHITNEY of Centerville, Iowa, married Ross HARMON, 7 May, at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.A. WHITNEY of Centerville.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank HOPP have a new baby girl on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs.. Ernest STANLEY of Davenport have a new girl born 19 April. They are formerly of here.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis WAHRER JR. have a new girl born 19 April.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry PETERSON of Ambrosia, have a new son, born 6 May.

Big write up in this paper about Mabel REEVES wedding, the grooms mother, Mrs. M.W. DOUGHTY, came all the way from Ca. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Johns is brides parents.

Harvey Frederick WAGNER, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C.WAGNER of Hiteman, died 7 May 1921. He was born in Hiteman, Iowa 8 August 1896. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond, and is survived by his parents. Buried in Oak View cemetery at Albia.

Mr. and Mrs. E.C.CLOUD of Bettendorf, Iowa, have a new daughter, Juanita Ruth, born 14 May.

Miss Carrie Belle CRAWFORD, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. CRAWFORD, was born in Dizon, Illionis 18 November 1866, whre she grew to womanhood. She married Fletcher H. GLANCY, 1 October 1888 and had three children. She came with her husband to Iowa in 1888, and settled near Montrose. Survived by husband, one son Fletcher H. Jr. two daughters, Helen and Phoebe, her mother. She died at her home near Montrose 17 May and was buried in Montrose cemetery.

Miss Viola KEITH married J.E. VERMAZEN 18 June 1921, at the Presbyterian Manse in Keokuk. Wedding dinner was at bride’s sisters home in Montrose; Mrs. Robt. CURTIS.

30 June 1921

Helvig CHRISTENSEN was born in Denmark, 1 August 1847. She came to America in 1879, coming to Keokuk, where she was met by Andrew CHRISTENSEN, and they were married in September of that year. They had eight children of whom one son and three daughters have died. Survived by Chris, of Alabama and Egner, of Montrose, Mrs. Mary HORTON and Mrs. Anna CONLEE, both of Montrose. Also ten grandchildren. Her husband died 25 September 1900. Mrs. CHRISTENSEN, died 22 June 1921 in Montrose. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Miss Eulalia BUCK and C.L. MOREHART will be married today at the Presbyterian Manse at Keokuk. Looks like they will live in Ames, Iowa. Bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E.M BUCK.

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Joseph JOHNSTON of Marshalltown, a sister of Mr. G. W. GILBERT of that place.

07 July 1921

Mr. Keeler HORNE was called to Fairfield the first of the week to attend the funeral of his mother’s cousin, Mrs. E. SNOOK, nee Ella ANDERSON, who grew up in Keokuk. She married Dr. SNOOK of Fairfield. He died some years ago leaving her with two daughters. The older daughter has been a great sufferer, her mother having the care of her, broke down, Mrs. SNOOK died the first of the week and was buried Tuesday.

John Peter MOANDER died Sunday at the home of his son Louis MOANDER. He was born 26 Dec. 1833 in Sweden. Leaves a large family, but didn’t mention any.

At Nauvoo, last Saturday, the body of Fred C. HAAS was buried with military ceremony and honors. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles HAAS of that city. He was killed in action 26 September 1918. For a long time he was reported missing, but was located in a n American cemetery in France. Some of the members of Montrose Post acted as guard of Honor and firing squad. Mr. Harold GALVOND, Post Sargent-at-arms, had charge of the detachment.

Charline Evelyn CHANCE, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy CHANCE, who live at Argyle, died at Graham Hospital Saturday. She was born 14 April 1921. Leaves parents, two brothers, Theron and Herbert, the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. RENZ. Buried Charleston cemetery.

14 July 1921

Mr. and Mrs. Frank BARNEs has bought the Hotel Montrose and took charge Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lex SAILOR had a ten pound son, born 15 July and died the same day.

Miss Lottie May HILLIER, daughter of Mary WILLIAMSON HILLER and John H. HILLER, was born in Ohio 5 May 1854. When a child, moved with her parents to Harrisburg Twp. and there she grew up. She later moved to Bonaparte. Her mother was an invalid for years. Both of her parents are gone. She was the grand-daughter of Rev. Elijah WILLIAMSON of Keokuk, who was known to older residents of Harrisburg Twp. Buried Vale cemetery.

21 July 1921

Clayton WRIGHT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed WRIGHT drowned last Friday. Buried Hickory Grove cemetery.

Mrs. George KENNEDY received word of her sisters’s wedding: Mrs. Esther CARNES to Herbert ADAMS in N.Y. City. Will live here.

Mrs. J. L. VANOSDOLL was called to Indianapolis to attend the funeral of Mrs. C. LEMATTY, who died Tuesday.

Richard Herbert SAYLOR, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. SAYLOR, was born Sunday 10 July 1920, at Montrose, and died Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George VANAUSDOLL, the grandparents. Buried Montrose. Mrs. SAYLOR, formerly Ruby VANUSDOLL is critically ill.

28 July 1921

W.J. FISHER of Tacoma, died last Sunday. He was one of the Montrose boys that went West. His wife was also from Montrose.

Edwin FOWLER, who came here in the early days, died at his home 20 July 1921. His brother John, died just a few weeks ago. His brother William just about 6 months ago. He was born in Stokes St. Melbron, Shropshire, England, 17 August 1835. He came to this country with his parents, brothers and one sister in June 1852 and landed at New Orleans thirteen weeks later. From there he came to Lee County and has been here since, except for a few years spent in Ca. His trip to Ca. was made with a team of mules and wagon. After several months of travel through mountains and plains he arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah from there he went to Ca., arriving in 1861. After spending four years in the far west he returned on a steamer from San Francisco to N.Y., thence by rail to Lee County. He married 11 April 1875 to Miss Emma HANEY, who survives him with the following children, Mrs. Chas. MATTERNICH, Mrs. John BOYD of Carthage, Illinois, Jesse R. of Moline, Illinois, William E. and Mrs. Mary PETERSON and James E. of Sandusky, Iowa, Mrs. Jesse FREUHLING,  Wever, Iowa. Survived also by 23 grandchildren, one sister, Miss Emma PARKER of Keokuk, Iowa, one brother, James of Alemeda, Ca.

Tuesday evening the whirr of an airplane was heard over Montrose and those who looked out saw a new, shiny machine, part red and part gold, circling the town and then settle in Zack OWEN’S meadow. This is one of the machines owned by the Albia Areo Club, and used for exhibition purposes. The construction is of framework of very light wood covered with fine linen and treated with a substance which makes it impervious to air, then it is all covered with fine varnish. The rest for the motor is a steel frame, covered with metal and painted red. The other parts of the machine, when flying show gold and the effect is fine. Several people took their lives in their hands and made the flight over town. This ride is just as safe as driving after old Dobbin, if you just can think so. Those who took the air flight were, Arthur MAXWELL, C.R. CLINGMAN, Thos KNOBBS, Charlotte CLINGMAN and Robt. KNOBBS.

Mr. and Mrs. John JOHNSON of Galland have twin girls, born 27 July 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. George SPRING of Ft.Madison have a new girl born 2 August. 

A Mr. Mr. SATTERLY who had died in France, was buried at Sharon cemetery. Article said Mrs. SATTERLY had recently lost her husband. She now has lost two sons to the war, one made it to France, the other died of a disease in training camp.

11 August 1921

Wm. J. FISHER was born in Keokuk in 1859 and soon thereafter the family moved to Montrose where he grew up. On 15 September 1880, he married Miss E. May SPENCER, who with their only child, a son, survives. Before his marriage , he opened a store in Nauvoo and remained there until he went to Tacoma in 1894, going west at a time when the gold fever called many to the rich fields of Alaska, he succeeded beyond most of those who went west. Buried in Tacoma.

Miss Sara Nancy MEGCHELSEN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John MEGCHELSEN, became the bride of Maurice F. COLE of Detroit, Mi. at the Presbyterian Church at Summitville. The groom holds a position as assistant Superintendent of schools, Ferndale, Mi.

William Leroy CRANE was born near Montrose, 28 December 1895, the second child and only son of Ellsworth B. and Belle CRANE. He died in the service during the World War, 21 December 1918, over a month after the armistice was signed. Sargeant CRANE was a member of the Headquarters Co. of the Third Army Corps. His corps was a member of the army of occupation. He enlisted 11 December 1917, from Montrose, in the service. The William L. CRANE post No. 487 American Legion here is named in honor of his memory. Survived by his parents, two sisters, Hazel and Ruth. Buried in Oakland cemetery.

Miss Jennie PARKER was born in Keosauqua, Iowa in 1853, died 4 August 1921. She married James MILES in 1881. In 1904, they moved to Montrose where they have since resided till her death. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Louie LEMATTY have a new daughter, born 2 August.

Mrs. Minnie E. COONEY, wife of H. C. COONEY, for many years a hardware dealer in Ft. Madison and well known in this city and county, died at Eldorado Springs, Missouri 12 August 1921. She was born near Montrose 1 February 1875. She was the daughter of Charles BROWN. They left Ft.Madison in May 1920 for Ca. Where they spent a year. Stopped in Texas then preceded to Eldorado Springs where she died. Buried Oakland cemetery.

Mrs. LONGSTRETH, mother of Mrs. G.W. BARBER died today.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur NELSON of New Boston, have a new son born 14 August 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo PFIGERSTOFER have a new girl born 7 August.

25 August 1921

Miss Ethel MARSHALL and Ben BEST went to the Rock Pile in the Lake, out before town, took Elder BURTON along and were married on the top of the rock. Good luck to them.

Martha GILBERT, daughter of Hiram and Eliza GILBERT was born in Muscatine, Iowa 28 August 1854. She grew up and taught school there. She married William A. LONGSTRETH 16 December 1877 and had one child. In 1891, they moved to a farm in Marsan( I don’t find a county with this name in Iowa so I am not sure what county it is) County Iowa; in February of 1907, they moved to Bussy, Iowa, and remained there until last November, when they came to Montrose and made their home with their daughter, Mrs. G. W. BARBER. Leaves husband and daughter, two sisters: Mrs. R. O. MCGAUGHOY of Muscatine and Mrs. A. M. SANFORD of Milwaukee, Wi. She died at the home of her daughter 18 August 1921. Buried Montrose.

The REUTHER’S have a family reunion, lists everyone that was there. Need to look it up on the film at the Montrose Library if you are interested it checking it out.

01 September 1921

Benjamin Edward WHARTON was born in Viele, Iowa, 22 April 1884. He resided Lee Co. most of his life. About five years ago, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was married to Gertie HENSEN 17 December 1917. They had two sons. Nearly three years ago they moved to Wayland, Missouri where he died 23 August 1921. Leaves wife, son, his father, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral took place at his fathers. Buried in Ft. Madison.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles WILHELM have a new daughter, born 10 September 1921.

Word was received here of the death of G. R. WOLFENBARGER, formerly of this place, being killed by an auto about two months ago in Des Moines.

06 October 1921

Otto AVENSSON died at his home at Sandusky, 2 October 1921. He was born in Sweden near Linkoping, 26 September 1810( that’s what it says ) and came to this country in 1890. On 19 September 1889, he married Miss Sadie HOLLINGSWORTH, and had one daughter, Winifred. Wife and daughter survive. Buried in the family burying grounds.

13 October 1921

Carol BUCK, son of Dr. E. M. BUCK, married Miss Madaline ALTON. Carol was brought up in this town, but the young lady came here a short time ago.

Elmer L. ROOD, who was a resident of Montrose for over thirty years, died at his home in Springsboro, Pa., 9 October 1921. He was born in Conneaut, Ohio 1 March 1840. When the call came for volunteers for the Civil War, he was the first to enlist from his native town, Denmark, Ohio. He enlisted 2 August 1861. He married Miss Esther HINES 10 September 1864, at Sheffield, Ohio. They were citizens of Montrose for thirty years, about ten years ago they returned to their old home in the east. Was a member of Tip Best Post No 75 G. A. R. Wife survives, also several children. Mrs. C. R. CLINGMAN is a daughter. Buried Denmark.

Mr. Charles SACKMAN, one of the few remaining old soldiers of the Civil War, has been quite sick.

Miss Ada HAMILTON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. HAMILTON, married Jack JACOBSON of Grinell, Iowa, 11 October 1921.

27 October 1921

Charles SACKMAN was born in Preble County Ohio, 8 January 1837 where he lived until he came to Iowa in 1850 and located at or near Summitville, Iowa. In 1860, he married Miss Lucy A. UTLEY of Montrose on the 2 of February. They made Sandusky their home. At the beginning of the Civil War, he enlisted in Co. A. 19th regt. Iowa Inf. when the regt. was organized at Keokuk and served during the war taking part in the battles and marches of the department to which he belonged. After he returned they lived at Summitville until 1888, when they moved to Montrose. He was a member of Tip Best Post G. A. R. He was the father of eight children, five of these have gone before to greet him in the Spirit realm. Surviving; wife, daughters: Mrs. Arvella COOVERT of Alexandria, Missouri, Mrs. Martha DOBSON of Keokuk, one son Benjamin Sidney SACKMAN of Montrose, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister; Julia NEAL of Sheridan, In. Funeral services were held at his sons home, pall bearers were all grandson: Howard, Virgil, and Archie COOVERT, Otis SACKMAN, Joseph and Ralph DOBSON. Buried at Montrose. ( A note, Charles and Lucy are my great grandparents, Martha DOBSON is my grandmother and Ralph DOBSON is my father. All are buried in Montrose cemetery as is my little brother and my mother.)

Dr. BUCK received word that his son, Earl, married in Chicago, 14 October.

Charles Wesley LAMBERT was born in Harriodsburg, Mercer County Kentucky, 17 December 1847 and died 27 October 1921. The family, when Charles was a boy, came to Lee Co. Iowa, 20 November 1854. In 1859, the family moved to Barry Co. Missouri but moved back here in the fall of the same year. He never married, lived with his sister Lida. Buried Montrose cemetery.

Louis MORIARTY married Miss Daisy Mae PHILP, of Montrose, 8 November 1921 in Keokuk at St. Francis De Sales rectory. Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert PHILP, groom is the son of T. J. MORIARTY. Will live near Sandusky on a farm.

Mrs. Eulah JOHNSON of Detroit and Mr. Clinton C. BUTTERFIELD of New Hampshire, were married 6 July. For reasons of their own, they kept it a secret.

24 November 1921

On November 17th , 1921, Thursday, the J. A. CARR home was made happy by the arrival of a small son, who will answer to the name of Belner Eugene.

Mr. and mrs. Russell HANCOCK, Saturday 19th of November a 9 ½ pound baby daughter, Lois Darlene, Mother and baby both doing fine. Old Russ has been hollering down a rain barrel to see how it sounds to be called daddy, so they say. ( This one must have died young as I don’t remember her)

Isaac M. GLASFORD ? was born in Preble Co., Oh. 5 December 1844, came with his family in 1856 to Iowa. Enlisted in Capt. Craven GARDERNER’S Co. A. 29 Reg. Ia. Volunteer Inf. in 1864 and served until the end of the war. He married Miss Dianha DEVORE?, who died 28 years ago, leaving eight children, who survive: Mrs. Harriet LAMMONS of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. M. B. CLEABEAU of Keokuk, Mr. Wm. GLASFORD of Montrose, Mr. Peter GLASFORD, of Omaha, Ne., Mrs. Emma PIERCE of Neosho, Missouri, Mr. Charles GLASFORD of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Elizabeth BILGER, Omaha, Ne. I can’t make out the 8th. He married again to Mrs. Rosell ASOTT and had two children: Mrs. Doris MARTIN of Keokuk, and Jose;ph GLASFORD of Montrose. He died 18 December 1921. Buried Montrose.

Lester FARRELL, eldest son of Mr. John FARRELL, and Miss Mabel Esther CLINGMAN, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. CLINGMAN, both of Montrose, married 20 December 1921. Will live in Keokuk.

The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. CLARK died Sat. and was buried Monday.
