BEELMAN, Thomas Lee
Born September 30, 1931
Enlisted in Donnellson
Corporal Beelman was a member of Company L 3 BN, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in Eastern Shore, Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on or about December 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. DOD records cite December 12, 1950, as date of loss, but due to the internal chaos within the unit due to high losses, it is impossible without eyewitness confirmation to have a specific date of actual loss. By December 12, 1950, the unit was in reserve in the Hamhung-Hungnam area. Reported DOD last known home of record - Donnellson, Iowa.

DINWIDDIE, Frank D.

Enlisted in Fort Madison Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison Comments: Private Dinwiddie was a member of the 27th Infantry Regiment, B Co. 1 BN, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea (southwest battle zone, Chindong-NI area) on September 2, 1950 and died of those wounds on September 2, 1950.

DOCKUM, Leland Edward Jr.

Bured in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Keokuk
Corporal Dockum was a member of the 38th Infantry Regiment, B Co. 1 BN, 2nd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in the Punchbowl, North Korea on July 27, 1951.

HOENES, John Thomas
Born December 11, 1930
Enlisted in Keokuk
Staff Sergeant Hoenes was a member of Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on August 26, 1952; location of battle zone was Western Outposts, Bunker Hill. He was known as "Tommy." Tommy was adopted and joined the Marine Corps just after graduating high school.

JONES, Frank Leslie

Enlisted in Keokuk
Buried Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk
Private First Class Jones was a member of the 15th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Hoengsong, South Korea on February 13, 1951.

LE MATTY, Donald Gene
Born October 27, 1928
Elisted in Keokuk
Corporal Le Matty was a member of Battery A, 63rd Field Artillery Battalion, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy, battle zone Samgyo-Ri, along the Kum River, South Korea on July 14, 1950, forced to march to North Korea on the "Tiger Death March," and died during the march between Manpo and Chunggang-jin, North Korea on November 1, 1950. Remains not recovered.

PIERSEE, Howard Lee

Enlisted in Keokuk
Corporal Piersee was a member of Company D, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting as infantry at Kasan, Hill 902, Taegu area, South Korea on September 4, 1950 and died while a prisoner on March 20, 1951. His remains were not recovered.

SHERWOOD, Francis E.
Born July 14, 1926
Enlisted in Fort Madison
Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison
Private Sherwood was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, A Co 1 BN, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Kumhwa, North Korea on August 6, 1951.

WASHBURN, John Gilbert
Born May 14, 1930
Enlisted in Keokuk
Buried in Keokuk National Cemetery
Private First Class Washburn was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, I Co. 3 BN, 1st Marine Division. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy in Korea, Western Outposts, and died of those wounds on November 6, 1952.
