Keokuk, Iowa Death Records, Lee Co. IA, Volume I,II,III,
Encompassing the years 1867-1885

There was a note in Volume 1 & 2 that said, "The Clerk's office advised that even though some records were marked "Colored", it does not always follow that these people were colored.  It is thought person entering the death records made these errors."

As of November 20,1884, the name of the attending physician, undertaker, and color (race) are included in the death records.
