Brand  At the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Kamp, July 6, 1881, Mrs. Maria Adelaid Brand, aged 77 years.

 

From Lee county, Iowa newspaper dated July 22, 1885, Wednesday:

KAMP -- July 21, 1885, at the residence of his parents in this city, Bernard Kamp, Jr., aged 20 years, 3 months, 11 days.

Funeral from Evangelical Lutheran church Thursday at 2 o'clock p.m.

From Lee county, Iowa newspaper dated March 25, 1908:

    Barney Kamp, who died at his home, 1422 Des Moines St. Monday a.m. March 16, 1908 at 9 o'clock after being ill in bed the past twelve months, was aged 80 years, 2 months, 3 days.

     Mr. Kamp was born in Hanover, Germany and came to America in 1857.  He resided in New Orleans for several years then came to Ft. Madison in 1870, where he has since lived.  He was a member of German Evangelical church, joining that denomination in the old country.  For 28 years he was sexton of the City cemetery and in that time buried over 1000 persons.

      He is survived by wife and one daughter, Mrs. John Polchow of Davenport, Iowa and 6 grandchildren:  Charles Polchow, Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. Elmer Neal, Ottumwa, Iowa; Mr. Ben Polchow, West Point, Iowa; John Polchow, Davenport, Iowa; Clara Polchow, Davenport, Iowa; Willie Polchow, Davenport, Iowa and 5 great grandchildren.

     Funeral from the home Wednesday p.m. at 2 o'clock.  Burial in City cemetery.

From Lee county, Iowa newspaper dated January 1, 1913:

 

  KAMP                                                                               

    Mrs. Anna Kamp, one of Fort Madison's earliest residents, died at the home of her daughter at Davenport at 4:00 a.m. Sunday.  The remains were brought to Fort Madison and the funeral will be held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller, 1422 Des Moines street, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. P. C. Keinath of the German Evangelical church officiating; interment was made at the City cemetery.

     The Miller residence is the old Kamp home, Mr. Kamp having been sexton of the local cemetery for years, previous to his death about five years ago.  A few years ago Mrs. Kamp left to make her home with her only child, Mrs. Anna Polchow, at Davenport, Ben Polchow of West Point, this county, is a grandson.
