Surname: Lemke (various spelling of name based on translation from German to English - Limki, Limpki, Lempke, Limka); Brockman, Hempschmeyer, Schutte, Krehe, Peiper, Hoelting, Bentler, Schnittker, Ostdiek, Holtfoerster, Buescher, Rempe, Giers, Lodenkamper, Boeding
Four brothers, John, Henry, Joseph, and Richard Lemke came from Germany with their parents (Herman and Cathrina Lemke) and a sister who we believe was Anna Catherine Lemke. They first arrived in Saint Louis, Missouri area in 1864 and moved to Lee County, Iowa in 1865. About 1879 the 4 brothers moved to Nuckolls County, Nebraska.
