GRISWOLD, JAMES

 Names: Griswold, Skyles, Vermazen, Maxfield, Wardlow,

 03 August 1922  "Montrose Journal"

James GRISWOLD an esteemed resident of Jefferson Twp. died 12 July 1922, at the age of 22. (sic-age 77). He was born 21 October 1745 (sic 1844) in Lockberlin, N. Y. His parents came to Jefferson Twp. when he was 4, he lived there ever since. He married Miss Magnolia SKYLES in 1894 and had 11 children, nine of whom, with their mother survive. Two children; Mrs. Grace VERMAZEN and Edgar GRISWOLD, preceded their father in death. Surviving children: Mrs. May VERMAZEN of Donnellson, Mrs. Eva MAXFIELD of Charleston, Simeon and Victor of Ft.Madison, D. T. of Denton, Texas, Mrs. Gladys WARDLOW of Montrose, Kenneth of San Jacinto, Ca. Wm. HURD who lives at the old home with his mother and sister Miss Bessie. He was a veteran of the Civil War. Buried Oakland cemetery at Ft. Madison. (Corrections made by Carol Griswold Salli)
