Mrs. John S. Lowry, 75 a resident of Lee County for the past half century, died a 4:15 o’clock, Monday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Walter, near Argyle, with whom she resided. She had been in failing health for the past three months, but had been seriously ill for only a few days.

Immediately after their marriage they came to Lee County and made their home here the remainder of their lives. Mr. Lowry died on December 21, 1928.

Mrs. Lowry was a member of the Methodist church at Athens, but had been exceptionally active with the Ladies’ Aid Society of the Oak Grove church, which she entertained at her daughter’s home only last week. A kindly and thoughtful woman, Mrs. Lowry was happiest when she was among members of her family and with her grandchildren.

Surviving besides her daughter are one son, Chester Lowry; one sister, Mrs. Frances Harper of Hampton, Virginia; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. One son died at the age of two years.

The body was removed to the Schmidt Memorial home where funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday afternoon. Burial will be made in the Hickory Grove cemetery.
