Jennie Andrews
Former Argyle resident, Jennie Andrews, 97, died Saturday, April 11 at the West
Point Care Center.
She was born Feb. 9, 1890, at Charleston to Lewis and Isadora Alston Lawson. She
married Reuben Andrews, June 11, 1909, at Fort Madison.
Mrs. Andrews spent most of her life in the Charleston and Argyle communities.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by a son, Lowell E. Andrews of Fort Madison; four grandchildren;
and 10 great-granchildren.
A funeral for Mrs. Andrews will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hofbauer
Funeral Home in Donnellson with the Rev. Wilber Tripp officiating. Burial will
be in Charleston cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jacob Schwarsentruber
SCHWARSENTRUBER, SCHOENE, WAHRER, HIRSCHLER, MARKS, HEAFFNER, WOODSON,
ALLEN, RENZ
At an early hour Tuesday morning Feb. 1,1916 death claimed our beloved pioneer,
Jacob Schwarzentruber. He passed away at 1:30 a.m. at the age of 75 years, 7
months and 11days. Deceased was born in Ohio the 21st day of June 1840. He came
to Iowa, with his parents when he was 4 years old and has been a resident of Lee
County ever since. He was united in marriage to Christina Schoene (her maiden
name Christina Wahrer), June 2nd 1878. He was the father of eight children, one
son Joseph preceded the father to the grave. Deceased is survived by his widow,
two sons and five daughters, Charles Schwarzentruber at home, Daniel of Cedar
Rapids, Mrs. Emma Hirschler of California, Mrs. Mollie Marks of Keokuk, Mrs.
Bertha Heaffner of Jefferson township, Mrs. Clara Woodson of Mt. Hamill and Miss
Dora Schwarzentruber at home, and two step children, Wm. Schoene of Donnellson
and Mrs. Louise Allen of Stronghurst, Ill. Also five brothers, two sisters and
eight grandchildren, besides hosts of friends.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2
o'clock, Rev. Kreiss of Donnellson officiating.
Inturment in the Charleston Cemetery.
The pall bearers were George Renz, Jacob Wahrer and his four brothers, John
Schwarzentruber of Neb. and Daniel, Chris and Peter of Illinois.

Mrs. Amanda SWINDERMAN died at the home of her niece, Mrs. O. A. BOSSLER.
Amanda MCCHORD was the daughter of Joseph S. and Margaret SAWYER MCCHORD,
natives of Oh., came to Iowa in 1853, settled on a farm near Montrose, where
she was born 3 May 1854. She married Casper SWINDERMAN 3 March 18?(1875) And
had nine?, children. All living; Mrs. Simson (Simeon)GRISWOLD, Mrs. Harry
PEZLEY, of Ft. Madison, Lawrence, William, I can’t make out any more, go back
to his obit for the rest of it.

Casper SWINDERMAN died at his home in
Charleston, 12 January. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and as a child, moved
with his parents to LaSalle Co. Illinois. Came to Iowa in 1870 and located at
Sandusky. In 1877, he moved to Charleston Twp. He married Amanda MCCHORD in
1875, a native of Lee Co. She survives as well as the following children,
Lawrence J., WIlliam, Walter, Frank, and Edward of Charleston, Joseph and
Charles of Carthage, S. D. and Mrs. Sim GRISWOLD and Mrs. Harry PEZLEY of Ft.
Madison, 26 grandchildren, two brothers, Wm. of Maryville, Kansas, George of
Boise, Id., Mrs. John SMITH of Bellingham, Wa. Buried in the Charleston cemetery
in a metallic vault.
