History of St. John’s Cemetery
Fenton, Iowa
St. John’s congregation owns and maintains St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. It
is located about ¾ mile northwest of the town of Fenton.
The land for the cemetery was donated by Mr. and Mrs. William Stamer on January 20, 1908 and it was recorded on the January
24, 1908. In 1908 the
north half of the cemetery was divided into lots. Everybody was to pay $1.50
for sod work. August Simball planted the evergreens
around the cemetery (1915?)
The first burial in the cemetery was Wilfred Dreyer, 22-day old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dreyer, who died 2-6-1909.
