The Corey Family trace all the way back to the Mayflower and some of the first boats to come to the U.S. They are mentioned in many of Kossuth County books. What has always been missing is the pictures of them.
Myron Corey: Born 19 Mar 1829 New York; Died in Wesley Iowa 29 Oct 1896 and his Wife, Agnes (Thompson) Corey Born 13 Apr 1837 / Died 11 Oct 1906 from Scotland both buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Kossuth County. Agnes is the old lady in the picture with her family at her daughter Anna Amelia Corey's funeral in 1904.
Their children were born in Richland County, Wisconsin. They came to Kossuth County in Wesley, Iowa, about 1860's.
Myron got one of the last pieces of land in the county (80 acres). His son, Fred Albert "F.A. Corey" [see the picture provided with his three brothers Charles, Byron, Arthur] remained in Kossuth County until his death. Arthur Robert Corey who married Agnes Cecelia Kunz, later became head of the Iowa State Fair. Byron moved to Herman, Minnesota, and Charles moved to Wendt, South Dakota, to ranch.
The family are cousins to the actor John Wayne on the Parson side.
