Walter "Wally" W. Reese, Jr.
September 26, 1941 - February 6, 2008
Walter
W. "Wally" Reese Jr., 66, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, February 6,
2008, at home. The Reverend Jason Crossen of the Ss. Mary and Mathias
Parish will officiate. Casket bearers will be Donnie Reiner, Steve
Holladay, Mike Kurriger, Rory Kuhljuergen, Eric Vaughn, and Ty
Thompson. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A
funeral luncheon will be held at the Moose Lodge following Mass. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation,
Muscatine Humane Society or donors charity of choice.
Wally
was born on September 26, 1941, in Iowa City, the son of Walter and
Lorena Eggenberg Reese. He and Beverly Tedrow Kuhljuergen were married
for 27 years. They later divorced.
He was a graduate of Iowa
City High in 1960. He served in the United States Army Reserves. After
moving to Muscatine, he managed the Deep Rock Service Station and later
owned and operated Wally's Service Station for 25 years. After his
retirement, he worked for Amoco Service Station in Iowa City. He was
currently employed at Hy-Vee Food Store in Muscatine.
Wally was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching Hawkeye football games.
He
is survived by his two sons, Scott A. Reese and wife Deb of Iowa City
and Rory E. Kuhljuergen and wife Piper of Norwalk; four daughters,
Stacy L. Vaughn and husband Eric of Perry, Gina J. Holladay and husband
Steve of Wilton, Jodi L. Kuhljuergen of Middletown, Delaware, and Jane
A. Kurriger and husband Mike of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Miller and husband Jerry of
Plymouth, Minnesota and Shirley Lemon of Benicia, California.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law Mike Lemon.
