About 800
stories written by longtime Press-Citizen columnist and Iowa City
historian Irving Weber were made available online by the University
of Iowa Libraries Preservation Department.
Weber, who died in 1997 at age 96, started his local history column at
the Press-Citizen in 1973. A collection of his work was published in an
eight-volume set by the Iowa City Host Noon Lions Club, with each volume
containing about 100 stories. Those books are now out of print.
UI Libraries worked with the Lions Club and the Iowa City Public
Library to digitize the stories and put them online. They can be found
at: http://cdm.lib.uiowa.edu/cdm4/browse.php?CISOROOT=/weber
