The Teachers at School.

The Jefferson County Normal Institute began its annual session Monday. County Superintendent Alice L. Heald is in charge, with Prof. R. A. Harkness as conductor. An excellent faculty membership: Prof. R. A. Harkness, instructor in arithmetic; Prof. J. E. Williamson, superintendent city schools, didactics and physical geography; Prof. H. B. Larrabee, superintendent Creston schools, civil government, United States history, rhetoric and botany; Prof. M. H. Frame, Fairfield business college, grammar and physical geography; Prof. J. C. Rambo, Fairfield business college, penmanship; Mrs. Lida Yocum, Chicago, primary methods. All the sessions of the institute are held in the Franklin school building, except chapel exercises, which begin at the opera house every morning at 8 o'clock. The attendance is very gratifying, the school opening Monday morning with an enrollment of 172, a slight increase over that of last year. The number was increased by the addition of ten students yesterday. Work to this time has been very satisfactory, and good results are expected from the session. A lecture will be delivered before normal students Thursday evening, August 3d, by Superintendent John F. Riggs of the Mt. Pleasant schools.
