With the completion of the new Y. M. C. A. last year, a new minor sport was introduced into Newton High, namely swimming. This is the first time in the history of the school that a swimming team has competed with other teams of the state. Meets were held with East High of Des Moines, Roosevelt of Des Moines, Boone, Marshalltown and the Grinnell College freshmen.
With most of this year's team back next year, Newton should have a swimming team that will equal any other aquatic team in the state.
