McMillen Post #463, Baxter, Iowa - GAR Register

This post is named in honor of William H. McMillen, age 20. His nativity is Ohio; residence is Vandalia, Jasper Co., Iowa. He enlisted September 28, 1861, as 5th Corporal. He mustered on November 1, 1861. He was promoted to 1st Corporal January 1, 1862. He was missing in action April 6, 1862, Shiloh, Tennessee. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant April 11, 1863. He was wounded April 9, 1864 at Pleasant Hill, Louisiana and died April 12, 1864. He is buried at Green Lawn Cemetery in Afton, Iowa.
