George H. Schmitt, was the eleventh child of Johann Christian Schmidt and Maria Dellwo. George married Elizabeth Stecker on 14 Feb 1840 at Damflos; this family traveled to the U.S. along with George’s older brother Peter Schmidt and children aboard the Harriet Hexie on 21 June 1857. Elizabeth Stecker was born 1819 in Prussia and died 4 May 1887 in Minnesota; they are buried at the Catholic Cemetery in Shakopee, MN.Children of George and Elizabeth are not included in this data base but are available from Allyson Monroe Tilton AllysonMT@aol.com
