Donald Kling

Obituary of Donald W. Kling

Donald W. Kling, 68, of 1308 S. 8th Ave. E., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died this morning, Sept 22, of respiratory failure at the Skiff Medical Center.

Memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. F. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery [He is actually buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery.]

Christian wake services will be held at Reese Chapel at 7 p.m. Sunday. Vince Waltz will lead the wake services. Visitation with the family will be held following wake services. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Saturday.

Memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of the Jasper County Historical Society will be accepted. Survivors are his wife, Eleanor; two sons, James L. of Rock Island, Ill., and Jeffrey W. of Newton; two daughters, Janna (Mrs. Steve) Birkenholtz and Junella Marie Kling, both of Newton; two grandchildren; and a brother, Robert, of Glenwood, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Kling, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, farmed and later operated Kling Excavating for many years. Later he was associated with Newton Manufacturing and Heartland Motel Brokerage, prior to his retirement.

The son of Leonard and Dorothy Wiley Kling, he was born Feb. 28, 1921 in rural Newton, attended Jasper County and Newton schools and was a 1939 graduate of Newton Community High School. He married to Eleanor Pink May 28, 1842. ~ The Newton Daily News, September 22, 1989.


71. Junella Kling

Obituary of Junella Kling-Yoder
Junella Marie Kling-Yoder, 44, of Newton died of a heart attack Thursday, Sept. 4, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E. in Newton, with Father Ernest Braida of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Private family burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to the Jasmine and Jacy Yoder Trust Fund.

The daughter of Donald and Eleanor Kling, she was born March 20, 1959, in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School and Des Moines Area Community College. She also attended Central College. She enjoyed motor sports, photography and was an avid Blues fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Jasmine and Jacy Yoder, both of Newton; a sister and brother-in-law, Janna and Steve Birkenholtz of Newton; two brothers, Jeff Kling of Sully and Jim Kling of Rock Island, Ill.; her mother; and several nieces and nephews.

(Research):Clarence Pink Dies Saturday; Rites Wednesday

Colfax--Clarence William Pink, 63, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Saturday at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

Father Karl Holtkamp of Fairfield, former pastor of the immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery near Newton. Memorial contributions to the Colfax Interfaith Center will be accepted. memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Anna; a son, Ronald Joe of Colfax; a step-son, Gary Vander Schel of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Darlene Kono of Colfax and Mrs. Robert F (June) Readapt of San Antonio, Tex.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles S Pink of Woodside, N.Y., and Logan M. Pink of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter.

Mr. Pink, a retired farmer, also had been employed at the Colfax Sale Barn and had operated oil business in Colfax. The son of Peter and Edith Miller Pink, he was born Feb. 23, 1911 at Newton. He was married to Ruth Davison in 1932. He married Ann Kec Sept 17, 1956 in Nashua. ~ The Newton Daily News, February 10, 1975

Anna K. Pink

Funeral services for Anna K. Pink, 77, of 1800 S. 4th Ave. E., will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with the Rev. Jill Flyr, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Cremation will follow services. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Family will be present at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Pink died Saturday, Aug. 16, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

The daughter of Frank and Anna Vy Kuka Kec, she was born May 21, 1920 in Colfax. She was a graduate of Colfax High School and Simpson College.

She married Clarence Pink Sept. 17, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

A lifelong resident of Jasper County she was employed as a rural school reacher and was co-owner of a service station.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Kristi of Colfax and Gary Vander Schel ofTexas; two step-daughters, Darlene Houk of California and Judy Raddatz (June Readapt in Clarence obit ) of Texas; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Newton Daily News, 1997.
