Later my mother married Patrick McCabe and a daughter, Lida McCabe was born to them in Roslyn. She was born Dec. 23, 1885, in Albia to Ellsworth and Fannie Simmons Horner. She married Benjamin Lane July 14, 1903 in Albia. She lived in Monroe County all her life and in Albia Manor the last two years. She was a past president of Rebekah Lodge, a former member of Pocahontas Lodge, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia.
Survivors: Fern Remark of Albia, Marie Hyde of Albia Route 5, and Dorothy James of Elburn, Ill; and sons, George of Albia Route 3, Harold of Burlington and Dean of Agency; 22 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 44 great-great- grandchildren; and a sister, Marie of Flint, Michigan.

George F. Lane, 93, of Nelson Manor Nursing Home, a resident of Jasper County since 1925, died this morning at the Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Den Hartog, pastor of the Metz Community Church, will conduct services. Burial will be at the Oak View Cemetery in Albia at 3 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Friday.
Survivors are four sons, Kenneth, Philip, Leo and Donald, all of Newton; 21 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a sister, Christina "Babe" Anderson of Albia. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Selma O. Anderson, in November, 1955; his second wife, Lula Scott Bilterman in February, 1979; two sons, Paul of Albia in 1920 and Ted of Ira in 1974; two brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Lane had worked as a coal miner in the Hiteman area for many years before moving to Jasper County to work at the Maytag Co. and later at the Maytag Farms.
The son of Thomas E. and Christina Weir Lane, he was Born April 17, 1888 in Albia. He was married to Selma O. Anderson July 16, 1910 in Albia and to Lula Scott Bilterman Sept. 30, 1956 in Ottumwa. - Newton Daily News May 28 1981.
George married Selma Otilia ANDERSON,46 daughter of Pehr (Par) ANDERSON and Johanna Sophia LINDGREN, on 16 Jul 1910 in Albia, Monroe Co., Iowa.36 Marriage status: married. Funeral services for Mrs. Selma O. Lane, 67, were held at 1:00 p.m. today at Toland Funeral home. The Rev. Ralph Eckard, pastor of the Lutheran church officiated and burial was at Oak View cemetery at Albia.
Pallbears were Gene Lane, James Lane, Paul Lane, David Lane, Donald Anderson, Richard Anderson. Mrs. Jessie Dray, Mrs. Frances Frame and Mrs. Harry Selbher were in charge of the flowers. Dick McKibben, the soloist sang, "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Paul Murdy at the organ.
Mrs. Lane died at the home of her son, Philip Lane, 1:54 a.m. Sunday. Death was attributed to heart ailment.
Mrs. lane is survived by her husband, George F. Lane, 5 sons, Kenneth Lane, Edward Lane, Philip Lane, Leo Lane, Don Lane, 19 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Axel Anderson of Melcher and Albert Anderson of Temperance, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a sister and son as well as her parents.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Par Anderson, she was born October 8, 1888 in Sweden and came to the United States when six months old. She was married to George F. Lane July 16, 1910 at Albia. She resided in Albia for many years before moving to Newton in 1927. Mrs. Lane was a member of the Lutheran church. - Newton Daily News, November 22, 1955.
