(Research):R. E. Hanke Is Dead at 63
Lawyer Lived Near NewtonRaymond E. Hanke, 63, an attorney with offices in Newton and Des Moines, died early Wednesday at State University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
The cause of his death was not immediately known.
Hanke was admitted to Skiff Hospital in Newton early Tuesday and was transferred to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was taken to the university hospital late Tuesday afternoon.
Hanke was a native of Newton. He practiced law in Des Moines for many years after his 1928 graduation from the law school of Drake University.
Three years ago he moved to a farm near Newton and commuted to his Des Moines and Newton offices.

Baxter - Funeral services for Ethel McAninch Hanke, 79, a resident of Colonial manor in Baxter for four years and a former resident of 410 W. 16th St. N. Newton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Newton Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home in Newton after 3 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorials to the church may be left at the funeral home or at the church.
She died Tuesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following a heart attack. Survivors are a son, Paul of Altoona, a daughter, Evelyn Phelps of Newton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Reutter of Pilot Mound.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond, in 1956 and a half-sister. Mrs. Hanke was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and Sacred Heart Society.
Mrs. Hanke, a secretary for the law offices of Caldwell and Caldwell and Campbell and Campbell, both in Newton, had worked for the Jasper County Human Services for 10 years prior to her retirement. The Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Alvin McAninch, she was born June 18, 1911 in Des Moines and attended Des Moines Schools. She was married to Raymond E. Hanke in 1935 in Des Moines. Mrs. Pearson died Wednesday at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Survivors are her husband, Hubert; a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Hanke of Mitchellville; a step-daughter, Barbara Palmer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alva Hanke in 1952, parents, three brothers, six sisters and a son, Kenneth Hanke.

Merlo Hanke, 60, of 423 Thoria Road in Batavia, Ill., a former resident of Newton, died Friday evening at the Geneva Community Hospital in Geneva, Ill., after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home.
The Rev. Edwin Frohardt, minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. Hanke will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors are his wife, Mary, four daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Britt of Wheaton, Ill., Mrs. Philip (Beverly) Dodd of Batavia, Ill., Mrs. Bernie (Lila) White of Batavia, Ill., and Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Rivers of Plano, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Darrell.

Colfax -- Mrs. Everette R. (Lola Amanda) Wilson Sr., 77, a resident of Colfax since 1916, died Monday at Clear View Manor at Prairie City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Colfax. The Rev. Robert Cook, pastor of the church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.
Friends may call at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.Survivors are a son, Everett R. Wilson II of Colfax; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Elda) Faidley Jr. of Prairie City; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. She was preceded in death by her husband April 11, 1960.

(Research):Kenneth Iske - Newburg - Funeral services for Kenneth Iske, 62, of Newburg, will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinned. Burial will be in the Hazel wood Cemetery. Iske died in his home Sunday of cancer. There will be military honors during the graveside rites by the Gilman American Legion Post.
Mr. Iske farmed in the Newburg area. He was the son of "David and Leota Hitchler Iske. Born July 4, 1923, he married Maxine Eslmer Nov. 22, 1945. During World War II he served in the army in Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; three daughters, Diane of Emmettsburg, Mrs. Linda Simpson of Gilman and Deborah of Glenwood; brother and sister, Mrs. Thedora Shaver of Newton and Jack Iske of West Liberty; three half sisters, Mrs. Edna Williams of Marshalltown, Mrs. Irene Huffacker of Newton and Mrs. Genieve McIlrath of Grinnell; four half brothers, Ted of Idaho and Harold, Carroll and CHarlie of California; and five grandchildren. Jack S. Iske, 65, of West Liberty, a former resident of Newton, died Friday, Feb. 11, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Cremation followed death. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at West Liberty Country Club. Memorials to a fund in his name may be sent to Barker Funeral Home, 205 E. 34d St., West Liberty 52776.
Survivors are his wife, Jeannette; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jascinta of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Joey Fabere of Naperville, Ill.; and two grandsons. Also surviving are three sisters, Genevieve McIllrath of Grinnell, Thedora Shaver of Newton and Edna Williams of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister.
Mr. Iske coached in Bondurant for several years before moving to West Liberty in 1969. He taught and coached in West Liberty High School until 1973. He later worked in the insurance business. Mr. Iske, who served in the Marine Corps, was a member of the West Liberty Country Club. The son of Dave and Maud Hitchler Iske, he was born Sept. 2, 1928 in Laurel, was a 1946 graduate of Newton Community High School and was graduated from Simpson College in Indianola with a bachelor's degree in education. He was married to Jeannette Ogan March 25, 1951 in Indianola. ~ Newton Daily News, Feb14, 1994
