Obituary: E. Gerald Yost

E. Gerald Yost, 84, of Newton died of a heart ailment Sunday at Skiff Medical Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Yost was born in Osceola and moved to Newton in 1972 after living in Mason City and in Minnesota and North Dakota. He retired as superintendent of Great Lakes Oil Co., and was a Minnesota oil industry lobbyist and member of several oil groups.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; a daughter, Jane Hanson of Whitehall, Mont.; a brother, Raymond of Osceola; and three grandchildren.

Obituary: Marjorie Brock Yost

Marjorie Yost, 83, of Newton died of cancer Monday at Park Centre Care Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Born in Newton, Mrs. Yost lived in several other areas before returning to Newton in 1973. She was a retired elementary teacher and a member of P.E.O., Questers and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Hanson of Whitehall, Mont.; a brother, John Brock of Newton; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to her church. ~ The Des Moines Register, October 1, 1997.
