Born: February 5, 1877 in Jasper Co., Iowa. George Selbher DiesWord was received in the city this afternoon announcing the death of Geo. Selbher, west of town. Mr. Selbher had been sick for the past seven months. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Selbher, and was 28 years old at the time of his death with tuberculosis. He leaves a wife but no children. The funeral announcement will be made later. ~ The Newton Daily News, September 6, 1905 __________The funeral of George Selbher will be held at the Sugar Grove Church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment will be in the Metz Cemetery. Rev. Deffenbach of the Lutheran Church will conduct the services. SelbherGeorge Franklin Selbher, the oldest son of John and Louisa Selbher, was born in Jasper County, Iowa, Feb. 5, 1877, was married in Des Moines, Dec. 25, 1902 to Miss Sophia Flogstad, by Rev. Wirt, Lutheran minister of that place. Died Sept. 6, 1905, at his parents home after an illness of seven months, of Tuberculosis at the age of 28 years, 7 months. He leaves a loving wife, mother, father and four sisters and one brother. His last words were the Lord's Prayer and to his wife, "I am ready to go and will meet you all in heaven." George was as good hearted a boy as ever lived and will
be sorrowfully missed by his relatives and many friends. ~

Susan (Selbher) Wheeler
Born: February 7, 1881 in Jasper Co., Iowa3 Sue Wheeler Rites TuesdayServices for Mrs. Sue Wheeler, 77, of 417 Tenth St, West Des Moines, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the West Des Moines Christian Church. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery near Newton. Mrs. Wheeler suffered a heart attack and died Sunday during services at the West Des Moines Christian Church. Born in Newton, she had lived in West Des Moines, 42 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Mount Olivet White Shrine. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Warren of Des Moines and Mrs. Otis Sims of Newton, and one brother, Harry Selbher of Newton. ~ Des Moines Tribune, December 1, 1948. |
