Died - At the home of his mother, in this city, on Friday, August 30th, '89, HENRY NEWTON, youngest son of Mrs. Nancy Newton, aged 22 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Henry was born in Sherman Twp., this county, Feb. 26th, 1867. When 4 years old his parents went to California for the benefit of his father's health which continued to fail, and 2 months later they returned to Jasper county, where Mr. Newton died on the 1st of February, 1872. With his mother he resided for 3 years in Story county afterwards returning to Newton. In January, 1888, Henry went to Indianapolis and was engaged in the painting business there until the following June, when he was taken ill, and in October last his mother brought him home. Although in very delicate health, he was able to lie about until the 12th of last January, since which time he has only been able to be out of the house a few times, and for the past 12 weeks has been confined to his bed.

Although suffering so long has born all with Christian resignation. He was an honorable and upright young man, and popular among his friends and associates. He leaves a widowed mother, and one brother and one sister - Charlie Newton and Mrs. Alice Peavy - who deeply mourn the loss of their loved one. The funeral service occurred on Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. I. O. Kemble. The family feel grateful for the kind sympathy and assistance rendered them in their bereavement. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Journal, September 1, 1889.
