Obituary - James M. Mortenson
OSKALOOSA - James M. Mortenson, 63, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Jasper County, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, Dec. 1, at his home.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
No visitation is planned. Memorials will be accepted in his name.
The son of Montie and Thelma (Turner) Mortenson, he was born July 3, 1939, in Kellogg. He attended Metz Community School. Mr. Mortenson worked on the dryer assembly line for the Maytag Company and retired July 30, 2001. He moved to Oskaloosa in 1999.
Survivors include a son, Jamie of Chariton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Donovan Waters of Carlisle; a brother, Francis "Mort" of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Betty Lou Cox of Burden, Kan.; and his parents of Mesa, Ariz.
