Born: June 8, 1932 in Metz, Jasper Co., Iowa Obituary: Mary Lou Engle LincolnMary Lou Lincoln, 72, of Newton died Sunday, June 20, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Metz. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home. The daughter of Harold G. and LeOna Julia (Hummel) Engle, she was born June 8, 1932, in Metz. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1950. On June 17, 1950, she married Richard A. Lincoln in Newton. She was a secretary for Maytag Company for 30 years and retired in 1980. Mrs. Lincoln grew up and lived in Metz until moving to Newton 30 years ago. She was a doll collector and an award winning landscape flower artist. Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Teresa Lincoln of Colome, S.D.; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Floyd Mulbrook of Newton and Bette Ann and Bernard Lindsey of Calamus. Richard A. Lincoln, 79, of Newton died on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Albert and Alice "Pat" (Robison) Lincoln; wife, Mary Lou in 2004; and a sister, Rosemary Benson. Richard was a graduate of Monroe High School and worked as a pipe fitter and skilled trades' worker for the Maytag Company for almost 32 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 997 Retirees Union and the Coin Club in Grinnell. Richard enjoyed bowling.
