C. C. Leeper, 88, Dies in Florida

C. C. Leeper, 88, former resident of Jasper county, died this morning at Brandenon, Fla.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Morgan-Loehr funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery.

Mr. Leeper, born August 6, 1870 in Jasper county, has lived in Brandenon for the past five years.

He is a retired farmer and trucker. Mr. Leeper was educated in Jasper county rural schools and Hazel Dell academy.

Among his survivors are two nephews, Loren Ray Leeper of Newton and A. J. Leeper of Clinton; and a niece Mrs. B. E. Mulhern of Florida.

He was preceded in death two years ago by his wife, the former Mrs. Mary Chubb. ~ The Newton Daily News, July 16, 1959.

Florence Leeper

Mrs. C. C. Leeper Dies Monday

Mrs. C. C. Leeper, 69, former Newton resident, died of a heart attack 11:50 p.m. Monday at Newt London, Ia., while visiting a daughter, Mrs. Max Collins.

Funeral services will be held at Elliott Chapel at New London Thursday at 8 p.m. Graveside rites will be held at Newton Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Leeper was born to Mary Miller and James Ryy Sept. 20, 1887 at Lundy's Lane, Canada, and was preceded in death by two husbands, the Rev. Fred J. W. Chubb and Bert Cronkite. She married C. C. Leeper in February of 1947.

Besides her husband she is survived by her five sons, two daughters, four sisters, 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The Leepers had lived in Newton prior to moving to Florida last fall. She was a member of the Baptist church. ~ Newton Daily News, July 8, 1957.
