Ray Leeper Services Set
Services for Ray Leeper, 82, Embassy Manor, resident of
Jasper County for 25 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at
Loehr Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the First United
Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar
Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m.
today.
Surviving are a brother, A. J. Leepr of Clinton; a
sister, Mrs. B. E. (Nellie) Mulhern of Brandenton, Fla.; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace
Thompson, his second wife, Ann Kelly, a brother and a
daughter in infancy.
Mr. Leeper was a member of the United Presbyterian Church
and the Farm Bureau.
The son of W. J. and Katherine McCunn Leeper, he was born
Aug. 29, 1887, at Greenfield.
Mr. Leeper, a retired farmer, died Thursday morning at

Mrs. Leeper Is Dead
Stroke Friday Night Proves Fatal at
Iowa City Hospital Saturday
Mrs. Ray Leeper, 57, formerly of Newton, died at 4:20
o'clock Saturday morning at Mercy hospital in Iowa City a
few hours after she had suffered a stroke at her farm home
located near West Branch, Iowa. The Leepers had just
purchased a home in Newton and were in the midst of moving
to this city when Mrs. Leeper became stricken.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from
the Morgan Funeral home at 2:30 o'clock with interment at
Sugar Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Leeper was preceded in death by one child who died
in infancy. Survivors include her husband, her mother, Mrs.
Louella Thompson of Cheswick, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs.
Charles Bassett, Kellogg and Mrs. Arthur Harper of
Sigourney; two brothers, Ivan Thompson of Kawanee, Illinois
and Rufus Thompson of Des Moines. ~ Newton Daily News,
