Lamb, 89, of 3700 E. 31st St. died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Lamb was born in Mankato, Kan., and lived in Des Moines most of his life, retiring as a laborer for the J.C. White Co. He was a member of the Teamsters union. Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Kohne of Columbia City, Ind., and Mary Jane Pike and Colleen Payne, both of Des Moines; two sons, Gerald Kirkman and Gary Kirkman, and a sister, Elise Cram, all of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Born: July 16, 1918 in Colfax, Jasper Co., Iowa Resident's Sister DiedRuby Lamb, 69, of Des Moines died of cancer Tuesday, July 21, at Broadlawns Medical Center. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Metz. Mrs. Lamb was born in Colfax and lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Frank; a daughter, Beverly Kohne of Columbia City, Ind.; two sons, Gerald L. Kirkman and Gary Lee Kirkman, both of Des Moines; a brother, Charles Gerhart of California, 6 sisters, Frances Gerhart and Mary Griggs, both of Newton, Gladys Reynolds, Washington state, Betty Craft of Shellsburg, Stella Jones of Canoga Park, Calif., and Phyllis Thompson of Baxter; two stepdaughters, Mary Jane Pike and Colleen Payne, both of Des Moines; and two grandchildren. ~ Newton Daily News, July 1987 |
