LeRoy G. Huff

LeRoy G. Huff, 65, of 830 E. 6th St. N. died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Reese Chapel in Newton. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The son of Orville and Helen (Marcinko) Huff, he was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Great Falls, Mont. He graduated from high school in Nihart, Mont., and served in the United States Army. On April 5, 1960, he married Wilma Locker in Tacoma, Wash. He lived in Grinnell and Colfax prior to moving to Newton 20 years ago. He was a material handler at the Maytag Company and retired in 1992. Mr. Huff enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and listening to Blue Grass music.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Samuel of Grinnell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Don Audas of Montezuma and Suzette and Chris Fisher of Grinnell; six grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Huff of Powers, Mont., and Clifford Huff of Helena, Mont.; and two sisters, Charlotte Christensen and Sharon McEwen, both of Helena, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. ~ Newton Daily News, October 3, 2002.
