Bonnie L. (Sibert) Hardenbrook, 84, of Grinnell, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Mayflower Home in Grinnell.

A visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials in Bonnie's name may be left at the funeral home.

Bonnie, the daughter of Ernest and Mamie (Stone) Sibert, was born June 22, 1927, in Confidence, Iowa. She lived in the Russell area before moving to Newton in 1950. She was united in marriage with Walter Hardenbrook on July 1, 1951, in Confidence. She had worked for the Maytag Company in Newton, where she retired as an inspector. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and fishing. Being involved in activities at the Moose Lodge was very important to Bonnie.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; three sons, Jerry, Ricky and Roger Etter; three sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Leroy) Rinehart of Newton, Bonnie Straub of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Connie (Larry) Davis of Oskaloosa.

W. A. Hardenbrook Dies on Sunday;
Rites Wednesday

Walter A. Hardenbrook, 62, of 27-C GM Villa, died Sunday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Paul Akin, pastor of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie, five daughters, Meta Shields of Burlington; Rosa Lee Shaw of Shreveport, La.; Mrs. LeRoy (Shirley) Rinehart of Newton, Mrs. Mike (Bonnie) Clark of Newton and Mrs. Larry (Connie) Davis of Oskaloosa; and two stepsons, Jerry and Roger Etter, both of Newton.

Also surviving are six brothers, Cleo of Colfax, Lester, Dan, Elvin and Paul, all of Newton, and Edward of Altoona; a sister, Mrs. Daniel C. (Lela) Murphy of Newton; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Hardenbrook was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge.

The son of Evan and Meta Bunse Hardenbrook, he was born Aug. 16, 1916 in the Metz Community and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.

He was married to Bonnie Sibert July 1, 1951 at Confidence.

Mr. Hardenbrook retired from the Maytag Co. In August of this year. ~ The Newton Daily News, September 11, 1978.

Obituary - Jerry Lee Etter

Jerry Lee Etter, 57, of USA Health Care Inc. of Newton, formerly of Integrated Health Servicess of Jasper County, died of cancer, Tuesday, July 18, at the care facility.

Memorial services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Bob Hinshaw, pastor of Ashton Chapel near Mingo, officiating. The body was cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

No visitation is scheduled. The family will greet friends during a time of fellowship immediately following services at the funeral home. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.

Born Aug. 31, 1942, in Grass Valley, Calif. He was the step-son and son of Walter A. and Bonnie L. Sibert Hardenbrook. He attended Newton Community Schools and was a resident of Newton since. 1944.

Survivors include his mother; a brother, Roger Etter of Prairie City; two half sisters, Bonnie Davis of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Connie Davis of Oskaloosa; a step-sister, Shirley Rinehart of Newton; and a special friend, Martha Saenz of Newton.

Obituary

PRAIRIE CITY — Roger Dale Etter, the son of Walter A. and Bonnie L. (Sibert) Hardenbrook, was born May 24, 1949, in Newton. He was a 1967 graduate of Newton Senior High School. Roger served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1973. He had worked as a truck driver for many years, the last four with the OFC/Schmidt Liquid.

Roger loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting and driving his semi. Roger died, at the age of 58, Saturday, March 1, 2008, at his home in Prairie City. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Hardenbrook; two brothers, Ricky Etter and Jerry Lee Etter; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Those left to honor Roger's memory are his son, Lee Etter of Newport, N.C.; five grandchildren; his mother, Bonnie Hardenbrook; and three sisters, Shirley (LeRoy) Rinehart of Newton, Bonnie (John) Straub of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Connie (Larry) Davis of Oskaloosa.
