Born: March 24, 1897 in Mill Grove, Missouri Marie Jones, 78, Dies Sunday; Services TuesdayMrs. John A. (Marie) Jones, 78, of Rt. 2, Newton, a resident of the Newton community for approximately 50 years, died Sunday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Survivors are her husband, four sons, Richard Green of Des Moines, Russell Green of Newton, Barron Jones of Newton and Jack Jones of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. H. E. (Ruth) Richardson of Cerritos, Calif., Mrs. Jim (Geraldine) Brown of Kellogg and Mrs. Jake (Harlene) Ettelson of Newton; 16 grand- children; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Chaney of Chillocothe, Calif., and Mrs. May Worley of Santa Ana, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, H. Glen Green; a sister, Sarah; a son, Alfred Jones; and a grandson, Mike Jones. Mrs. Jones reconfirmed her commitment to Christ in 1946. The daughter of David and Rose Herford Ashcraft, she was born Mar. 25, 1897 at Mill Grove, Mo. She was married to John A. Jones Dec. 7, 1940 at Princeton, Mo. ~ The Newton Daily News, May 12, 1975. |
