Lucy V. (Vivian) Gray

Lucy V. Gray, 91, 1030 W. Van Buren Street, Auburn, died at 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, at the Haven Convalescent Center, Springfield.

She was born August 16, 1888, at Newton, Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Melissa Helphrey Ramsay. She married Frank F. Gray, on August 16, 1909, at Newton, Iowa

Surviving are her husband, Frank; one daughter, Mrs. John (Marguerite) Bayse, of Springfield; one son, Warren R. Gray, of Springfield; and two grandsons and one granddaughter.

Remains were taken to Bramley Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday evening. Removal was made to Wallace Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa, where services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 27 with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Newton, Iowa. ~ The Auburn Citizen, Auburn, Illinois, November 1, 1979.2

Frank F. Gray dies Tuesday;
rites Monday

NEWTON - Frank F. (Fogel) Gray, 90, of Auburn, Ill., a former resident of Newton, died Tuesday morning at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Monday.

Survivors are a son, Warren Gray of Springfield, Ill; a daughter, Mrs. John O. (Marguerite) Bayse of Springfield, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, in 1979 and six children.

Mr. Gray, who had retired from the grocery business, was a member of the Christian Church.

The son of Franklin and Lucinda Ferguson Gray, he was born April 24, 1891.

He was married to Lucy Ramsay Aug. 16, 1909 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Dec. 23, 1981.

James Gray

James Gray, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gray, Jr., died Saturday about midnight at Cassville, Mo., following nearly a year's illness from tuberculosis.

James Gray was born in Newton, September 9, 1914, and lived here until moving to Cassville, four months ago with his parents, who live on a farm there. He attended the Newton schools and prior to his illness was employed by Wendell Mulbrook in his motorcycle delivery service.

Surviving relatives include his parents; two sisters, Mrs. John Bayse of Newton and Nellie of Cassville; two brothers, Warren and Maurice Lee of Cassville, and his grandfather, Frank Gray, sr. who also makes his home at Cassville. The entire family with the exception of the grandfather, is expected to arrive in Newton today. ~ Jasper Co. Record, July 5, 1934.
