Dies in Minnesota
Colfax - George Saunders Gorman, 73, of Colfax, a
resident of Jasper County for almost 40 years, died Monday
at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walters
Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. B. B. Compton, minister of the Des Moines Assembly
of God Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in
Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Matilda; four sons, John of Kansas
City, Mo.; and Walter, Floyd and Robert, all of Colfax; a
daughter, Mrs. Gerald Feltz of Keota; 12 grandchildren; and
a brother, Alex Gorman of Pequot Lake, Minn.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Gorman, he was born Aug. 6,
1893 at Centralia, Wash.
He was married to Matilda Jane Goble Nov. 3, 1920 at Pequot
Lake, Minn.
A resident of Colfax for the last 13 years, Mr. Gorman
resided in Newton for 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War I. ~ The Newton Daily News,

Matilda Gorman Former Colfax Resident, Dies
Colfax - Mrs. George S. (Matilda Jane) Gorman, 72, of
Davenport, former proprietor of the Gorman Nursing Home in
Colfax, died this morning at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des
Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the
Assembly of God Church in Colfax.
The Rev. David McNeely, pastor of the church, and the Rev.
B. B. Compton of West Des Moines will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery near Newton.
Walters Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Ester) Feltz of
Washington, Iowa; four sons, John of Kansas City, Mo., and
Walter, Floyd and Robert, all of Colfax; and 14 grandchildren.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Colfax and
had resided in Jasper County for 50 years before moving to
Davenport last year.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Goble, she was born Aug. 4, 1901 in Cass County, Minn.
She was married to George S. Gorman Nov. 3, 1920 in Pequot
