Obituary - Mary L. Forbes
Mary L. Forbes, 65, of 102 N 2nd Ave. E. died of cancer Tuesday, March 12, at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Newton with the Rev. John Zieman officiating. The body was cremated. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to American Cancer Society.
The daughter of Tom and Katie (Graham) Kight, she was born Nov. 18, 1936, in Coffee County, Ga. She graduated from high school in Broxton, Ga. She married Ron Forbes Nov. 13, 1957, and was secretary/treasurer for Forbes Office Equipment. Mrs. Forbes was a member of the Harlingen Country Club and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan of Newton; a daughter, Nina Warden of Newton; two brothers, Bill and Russell Kight of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister Fran Ricketson of Broxton, Ga; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 18, 2002.
