Rites Saturday At Colfax for Mrs. Archie Engle

COLFAX (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Archie (Mary B.) Engle, 76, who died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at her home in Colfax, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Colfax Christian church.

The Rev. J. O. Whanger, pastor of the church, will conduct the services and burial will be in Metz cemetery.

Mrs. Engle is survived by her husband.

Mrs. Engle was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.

The daughter of George and Susan Herr, she was born October, 1880, at Wilton Junction. Educated in Wilton Junction schools, she was married to Archie Engle Sept. 25, 1907 at Wilton Junction.

Mrs. Engle was a resident of Colfax for the past 39 years.

Archie M. Engle Dies Friday; Services Today

Colfax - Funeral services for Archie M. Engle, 91, of Colfax, were held today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the First Christian Church in Colfax, conducted the services. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Survivors are a brother, Lloyd E. Engle of Fergus Falls, Minn.; three nephews, Gordon, Fla., Virgil O'Leary of Newton, and Harold Engle of Bremerton, Wash.; and three nieces, Mrs. Clarence Crawford of Newton, Mrs. Walter Meyer of North St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Roland Newton of Katmandu, Nepal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1957; and a sister, Bertha O'Leary, in 1969.

Mr. Engle was a member of the First Christian Church in Colfax and a longtime member of the Woodman of the World Lodge. He was a retired farmer.

The son of Melvin and Nora Clement Engle, he was born Sept. 8, 1882 at Scandia, Kan.

He was married to Mary Herr Sept. 15, 1907 at Wilton Junction.

Mr. Engle died Friday evening at the Jasper County Home southeast of Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, March 18, 1974.
