Born: September 25, 1937 in Grinnell, Poweshiek Co., Iowa Obituary: Gerald "Jed" MIllerGerald "Jed" Miller, 69, of Newton died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at his home in Newton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Pastor David Rex officiating. Burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The son of Vernon E. and Ida Grace (Grovenburg) Miller, he was born on Sept. 25, 1937, in Grinnell. He lived in Newton for 13 years. He was self-employed. Jed served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. Jed was a participant of Willowbrook Adult Day Care. Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" of Newton; stepson, Gene Fults of Alburnett; stepgrandson, Shawn Fults of Volga; four brothers, Harold (and Ruth) Miller of Marshalltown, Donald (and Dorothy) Miller of Tinley Park, Ill., Richard (and Joan) Miller of Tama and Gene (and Dorothy) Miller of Victor; two sisters, Verna Taylor of Tama and Audrey (and Calvin) Tyer of Polk City. Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment: Following the funeral service on Wednesday, May 27, 2010 at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Those left to honor Bobbie's memory include her son, Gene Fults of Alburnett; grandson, Shawn Fults of Elkader; her sister, Becky Schroyer of Baxter; brother-in-law, Don Bosma of Marshalltown; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Fern (Robbins) Dammeier; husband, Gerald "Jed" Miller in 2007; 2 sisters, Doris Bosma and Marvel Dammeier; and 2 brothers, Donnie and Charlie Dammeier. Bobbie had lived in the Newton area for most of her life. She had worked many places, including the Maytag Company, Pyramid, and Dunlap. Her family was very important to her and her grandson was the pride of her life. She was a good cook and was known for her beef and noodles. She also enjoyed baking cookies and pies.
