Obituary: Charles Dammeier

Charles Dammeier, 67, of Newton died of a heart ailment Saturday at his sister's home in Baxter. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery there.

Mr. Dammeier was a lifelong Newton resident and was a general laborer.

Survivors include a brother, Donald of Newton; and three sisters, Doris Bosma of Marshalltown, Becky Schroyer of Baxter and Barbara Miller of Newton. ~ Des Moines Register, September 21, 1999.

Funeral services for Donnie will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, who have been entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials in Donnie's name are being designated.

Donald E. Dammeier, 70, the son of Clarence and Lucille Fern (Robbins) Dammeier, was born August 28, 1938 near Newton, Iowa. He attended Newton Schools.

Donnie worked on area farms near Newton, and devoted his life to his family and friends. He enjoyed mowing lawns, painting by numbers, model airplanes, and coffee times with family and friends.

Donnie died on Sunday morning, July 26, 2009 at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Charles Dammeier; and two sisters: Marvel Dammeier and Doris Bosma.

Those left to honor Donnie's memory include his sisters: Becky (Tom) Schroyer of Baxter and Barb Miller of Newton; a brother-in-law Don Bosma of Marshalltown, Iowa; his two nieces and two nephews; four great-nephews and one great-niece; and his many good friends.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from Visitation with the family will be from 5 - 7pm at Pence - Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton, IA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home, 310 N. 2nd Ave. E., Newton with Rev. Merle Smith, Chaplain officiating.

Burial will be in Sugar Grove (Metz) Cemetery, Newton on Wednesday at 3:00 pm. ~ Pence Reece Funeralhome website at pencefh.com.
