Born: September 25, 1916 in Baxter, Jasper Co., Iowa Obituary of Dolar Dale CannonNEVADA-- Dolar Dale Cannon, 87, of Nevada, formerly of Jasper County, died of dementia Sunday, Nov. 2, at the home of Barry and Michelle Stouwie. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pence-Reece Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Karl VanFarrow of Meredith Drive Reformed Church in Des Moines officiating. Burial will be at a later date [sic-the same date] at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Friends may call Thursday after 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home. The son of G. R. and Esther (Cross) Cannon, he was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Baxter. He attended Baxter schools. He married Esther J. Ervin and later married Vera Thompson. He was a truck driver for Super Valu Stores in Des Moines and was a farmer before he retired. He enjoyed working and farming. Survivors include his wife, Vera of Des Moines; a son, Dolar Dale Cannon Jr. of Rock Rapids; one granddaughter; three brothers, Harlan Cannon of Colfax, Floyd Cannon of Oceanside, Calif., and Bruce Cannon of Cottonwood, Calif. Esther (Ervin) Cannon
Born: May 19, 1925 in Cincinnati, Appanoose Co., Iowa Obituary: Esther CannonDes Moines -- Mrs. Dolar D. (Esther) Cannon, 59, of 2240 Des Moines St., Des Moines, died Tuesday afternoon, May 7, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Reese Chapel in Newton. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday, May 10. Survivors are her husband; a son, Dolar Jr. of Cherokee; a brother, Ernest Ervin of Ackworth; three sisters, Mrs. William (Katherine) Rock of Canton, S.D., Anita Kaster of East Moline, Ill., and Mrs. Jerry (Effie) Schmidt of Dallas, Tex; and her mother, Mrs. Oral Ervin of Urbandale. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister. Mrs. Cannon, a member of the United Methodist Church in Des Moines, had been a bookkeeper for 28 years for the Wright Tree Service in West Des Moines. The daughter of Bill and Oral Ervin, she was born May 19, 1925 in Cincinnati, Iowa. She was married Dec. 26, 1954 in West Des Moines.
